I have been to Helipad a few times, and it’s always an interesting experience. Previously, there was a dress code after 9 PM, but the staff said there isn’t one anymore regardless of the time. If there are any enquiries, we can contact the bar; they are active on picking up calls. Helipad is located on Level 34 of Menara KH (for those unfamiliar, “Menara” means “Tower” in Malay, which can sometimes cause confusion when giving directions to Grab or taxi drivers). You can choose to sit at the bar or on the rooftop. To get to the rooftop, you’ll need to climb additional stairs, which may not be convenient for everyone. I’m not sure if they have lift access for individuals with mobility needs, so it may be worth checking in advance. The staff are all friendly, and some are surprisingly skilled at taking photos! If you want good pictures of yourself in front of the beautiful background, I’d recommend asking them, as they seem to know the best angles and how to get clear, well-framed shots. There is an entrance charge of RM100 per person, which includes two drinks (a selection of wine, mojito, beer, martini, soft drinks and other options). As for food, they mainly serve bar snacks, burger, pasta and pizza, so it’s worth checking their menu if you’re looking for something specific. One important thing to note is the weather. Since it’s open-air, rain can affect your experience. If it starts to pour, you’ll have to move to the bar downstairs, and the stairs can get quite slippery, especially when there’s a crowd rushing down. I’ve been caught in that situation before, and despite the thunder and lightning, many people were still sitting there, trying to capture the perfect shot of the thunder! (Not advisable as it can be extremely dangerous). All in all, I enjoyed my visits at Helipad. Updated review: Visited Helipad again and was informed that staff are no longer allowed to take photos due to a new management policy. Quite a shame, as they take great pictures, which was helpful for solo travelers and couples.

Probably one of the best places to see sunset and views of the city in KL. We visited on a Wednesday evening around 6pm (Malaysia Independence Day eve to be exact) and were some of the first people there. A reservation was not required unless you want the more comfy seating on the very edge of the helipad. In which case I think you need to call them to reserve. The bar is located on the rooftop of the Menara KH building which is corporate offices. Grab an elevator to the 34th floor. There you will walk into their indoor restaurant/lounge area. Say that you would like to go up to the helipad and they will take you to a counter where you can buy your cover charge tickets. Entry was 100 myr/person which got you 2 drinks. You have to walk another 3 flights of stairs to get to the top. While the helipad is not bordered by any walls so you have unobstructed views, it feels very safe to walk around. There’s a border you can’t cross but it’s certainly NOT child friendly. With your tickets you have a small drink selection of red or white wine, some cocktails, a couple beers, etc. An ok selection for the entry price. You can buy more though once you are up there if you wish. After sunset it gets more clubby with lights and a dj and it becomes a bit more crowded. It’s a fun vibe. Knocked off a star because we felt very rushed. We purchased more than our allotted 2 drinks a person and three times a staff member came up to us to hand us the bill in which we told them we wanted to order more & weren’t ready to leave. It was past sunset at that point, there were other empty tables AND we were spending more money with them than most people there so I think it was really rude to try to push us out like that, whether intentional or not. Also this isn’t some high end bar. It’s rather casual and feels a bit cheap with the furniture choices. But a unique experience nonetheless and something worth checking out in KL.

I think this is a very nice place to visit when in Kuala Lumpur, but there are some things that would make the bar much cooler. First of all, mainly during the peak season, if you want to come at the sunset time, it is definitely wise to make a reservation at least a day in advance. You pay a 100MR (currently 20 euros) at the entrance and they give you 2 tickets with the list of drinks (including non-alcoholic) that you can then give to the waiters in exchange for the drinks, so 2 drinks included in the entrance fee (These are drinks chosen by them, not anything on the menu). There are other ways to get in without paying this, such as when you get some more expensive wine right away, not sure, haven't further explored this option. The staff at the entrance was very nice, they took care of our backpacks while we stayed. However, they came to ask what drink we want next each time before we were even done with the previous one, sometimes even two waiters after each other came and asked. I am not sure whether this was supposed to imply that we should either get something or otherwise goodbye, but in any case it was pretty annoying (the place was far from full when this was happening so no reason to urge customers to either get something or free up the place). I definitely recommend coming for the sunset and staying after, the view is beautiful and in the dark, it is a cool experience to see Petronas Towers, Merdeka 118, KL Tower and other buildings light each in different colors. If you want a seat at the very side of a helipad, the minimum spending is much higher, but not sure how much. A seat a bit further from the side doesn't lower the experience at all though and you can still go to the side and take photos. I believe getting a bit nicer chairs and tables and mainly having them all the same would help the place (I don't mean more luxurious or expensive, just nicer cause the current ones are a bit ugly and all different). Also, since it is on the helipad, it could easily become a much cooler place if they gave the people a "helipad feeling". First thought out of the top of my head - make the waiters dress like pilots or something... I think this place has much more potential than what is being made use of. Overall though, for sure add this to your plans when in...
