Read morewent there during lunch hours cuz i gotta go to some TCM nearby, theres quite a few tables available still and the staff greeted us nicely, we wanted to switch the table and theyre more than happy to help too.
ordered the lunch set (which is so good imo), we had the ducks, pork, beans, soup and a dessert.
owner was extremely friendly when helping us to order.
the duck is VERY VERY tender and gentle, you can literally tear it with just using chopsticks, yeah you heard me right, no jokes at all, the ginger that was braised together has became soften in terms of texture and flavour, if you like ginger, this is your thing for sure. i like the fact that ginger 'hot' ingredient is used to counter the 'coldness' of the duck in chinese terms.
the beans were full of wok hey, and the portion is huge, we almost couldnt finished the whole thing.
pork and soup is also v nice, pork is soft and not too salty together with the muychoy.
soup is well balanced, keeping the taste of the ingredients without overpowering it with too many things and salt.
one thing the owner asked that left quite an impression was do we want the dessert to be served together or later once the main meal was finished, this is where a CHINESE restaurant is transcendent where they give you the feeling of eating a 7 course dinner.
i bought some kuihs, it is ngam ngam sweet so dont worry even if youre cutting your calorie intake.
i really wished i have tried their otak otak cuz it looks so good but my tummy is definitely out of capacity, 10/10 will...
Read moreRandomly went thr on Sunday 1pm, without table reserve. Lady manager got us a booked table as 1 else is finishing soon to substitute the reserved table we accidentally took, quite agile, at least 2 human less to block the door and kueh session.
We got the RM49 2pax set that serve 2 rice/porridge, 1 platter, 2 soups, 1 salted vegetable, 1 salted egg rolls. Urghhh too full to finish it!
Taste like usual teochew dish that my bf mum always cook. Yes it taste more like homecook bt slightly more salty to cater wider customers taste.
Platter: Intestine is not so smelly they did clean it thoroughly. Braised duck is nice tender soft! Soup: omg lotus root that is steamed for long enough to absorb red dates/ dried cuttlefish color. Cant seem to find any cuttlefish in the soup bt surely smell it 👍🏼 authentic!
Kueh: we dabao few and keep them in fridge before quick steam 5min for dinner. Oki not a good timing to eat so much kueh before sleep, both of us hv bloated tummy. Tapi!!!!!! They are so nice even reheated after come out of fridge, the tenderness! The not too sweet nor salty filling! Must praise the kueh department cause we can sense the effort they put into the kueh making
They sell frozen dishes and kueh too: Ginger Duck, mantou/pau, teochew 菜板(饭板&黑芝麻), teochew bakzhang (with red bean paste on tip), all the rolls (seaweed, salted egg), 3 sizes of yam paste!!!...
