Palato — Restaurant in Malé

My wife and I recently visited Palato in Hulhumale, primarily to indulge in their "famous" waffles. The cafe certainly sets a welcoming tone with its delightful interior and ambiance, complemented by the friendliness of the staff. However, our experience was a blend of hits and misses.

The waffle menu, first and foremost, was somewhat perplexing and slightly off-putting. It's intricate and, unfortunately, contains hidden costs for additional toppings, which can catch you off-guard. As for the waffles themselves, they were satisfactory but fell short of being remarkable - a bit of a letdown given their fame.

Our beverage choices included an iced latte and an iced Vietnamese coffee. The latte was decent, but the Vietnamese coffee was overwhelmingly sweet, almost as if it had been drowned in syrup. This imbalance in flavor was a definite drawback.

Despite these mixed feelings, I remain curious about their other offerings, particularly the cupcakes, which I might try on a future visit. We sat outside and no body came to take our order. I went inside and let the waiter enash know that we were sitting outside and she came with menu and we gave the order at that time it was around 09:25. And in around 10:05 foreign waiter girl asked us what we ordered and I told her that 40 mins ago I gave my order to this waiter name enash and she said that girl doesn’t know our order. I asked to bring that waiter out but enash refused to come and talk to us. We personally asked that girl to come but she straight up said no! Why work in a place if you are scared to face your customers? We felt very disrespected. Wasted our time. I would have understand if she came in like 10 to 15 mins to reconfirm but we WAITED 40 mins. This place was really nice! I ordered a waffle with Belgian Chocolate, though there were a bunch of other chocolate options. The options for lemonade were confusing to me, at least, and I ended up getting a Victorian Lemonade which was good, but a bit sour for my taste. I adored the ambience though, the overall aesthetic is just great 😌✨. In the end, it was a bit pricey though. What I got in total was four waffles with belgian chocolate, victorian lemonade and one hot chocolate, which cost over MVR350.
