Nestled in the heart of Amsterdam, Oriole Restaurant stands as a testament to refined dining and exceptional culinary craftsmanship. As a Michelin-recommended establishment, it exceeds expectations with every aspect of its service and atmosphere.

Ambiance and Setting: Oriole boasts an elegant interior that exudes sophistication and charm. The décor is thoughtfully designed, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant also features a stunning garden and patio area, perfect for those who prefer to dine al fresco. This outdoor space adds a serene touch to the dining experience, making it a versatile venue for any occasion.

Beverage Selection: One of the highlights of Oriole is its extensive wine list. Whether you are a wine connoisseur or simply enjoy a good glass of wine, you will find the selection impressive. Additionally, their cocktail offerings are not to be missed. The espresso martini, in particular, is a standout, perfectly balanced and rich in flavor.

Culinary Delights: The menu at Oriole is a symphony of flavors and textures, each dish crafted with meticulous attention to detail. The octopus and the filet mignon are highly recommended. The octopus is tender and flavorful, cooked to perfection with a delightful blend of spices. The filet mignon is equally impressive, succulent and expertly prepared to enhance its natural flavors. Each bite showcases the culinary prowess of Chef Raoul Meuwese and his team.

Service and Attention to Detail: From the moment you step in, the service at Oriole is impeccable. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely committed to ensuring you have a memorable dining experience. The attention to small details, from the presentation of dishes to the timing of service, truly sets Oriole apart.

Overall Experience: Dining at Oriole is more than just a meal; it is an experience that engages all your senses. The combination of exquisite food, a carefully curated wine list, and an elegant setting makes it a must-visit for anyone in Amsterdam. Kudos to Chef Raul Meuwese and the entire team for delivering such an outstanding culinary journey. Whether you are celebrating a special occasion or simply looking to indulge in fine dining, Oriole is the perfect...

I had a very disappointing experience and despite emailing the restaurant with requested feedback on 29/01/23 and following up afterwards, I was ignored by customer service and received no reply. My original email to the Oriole team is below. Due to the lack of reply, I feel it is right to post it here. Thank you for the opportunity to provide feedback on my experience at Oriole. Overall, the food was very nice and the service friendly, however I was disappointed by the speed at which the food came to the table.

I arrived with my party (4 in total) at 19.50 and we were seated a short time later for our booking at 20.00. After an aperitif at the bar, we ordered shortly afterwards and received bread. We waited quite some time before the starters arrived. I had ordered the 'menu du chef' with two starters but only one arrived after quite a wait.

I mentioned this to the waitress and she said that the second starter was on the way, however by 21.40 - [110] minutes after we had arrived, neither the second starter nor any main courses had arrived, despite continual reassurance that they would come soon.

I eventually asked what had gone so wrong and was told that a party of 14 had arrived late and that they had been prioritised due to the preparation needed. I want to say that your staff (a German lady in particular) were very friendly, however I was on the verge of paying up and leaving for a takeaway after having waited so long.

At 21.45 the main courses arrived and they were very nice, however I was disappointed with the experience. My partner and I had friends visiting Amsterdam from Ireland and we had booked this as a special occasion to show them the best of Amsterdam dining, as we had a great experience at Bridges previously

Overall, I wanted to provide you this feedback rather than put it in a review. When things like this go wrong it is understandable, however we really should have been told a lot sooner and given the option to dine elsewhere. Overall it was quite a...

Unfortunately the high tea was not as great as we had expected. We called before hand to check what the difference was between the regular and the ‘festive’ high tea to clarify why the second option was more expensive. We were told that it includes a glass of champagne. Since we were celebrating a birthday, we thought champagne would be a nice add on so we made our reservation for the festive high tea. When we arrived we were placed at a cute table but it took at least 45 minutes before we were served our first bite which was a small amuse. Only after an hour we were served the first ‘course’. The tempo stayed like this throughout the entire hightea. We spend 4 hours which resulted in us having to rush to our dinner reservation. The sandwiches and scones were tasty, but nothing spectacular. The sweet treats were a bit disappointing especially one little tarte that tasted as if it was accidentally made in a savoury cheesy crust. Since we were trying to make the best of it, we ordered champagne and were served the tiniest bit of champagne I have ever seen. In between the different ‘courses’ it took ages before the table was cleared so we sat staring at our dirty plates at least half the time we were there. Around us several other tables were complaining but the lady who seemed to be the manager didn’t manage to offer a sincere apology or compensation. In conclusion: the high tea is not worth it. Even though we didn’t have a great experience, I want to add that the gentleman who served us in the beginning of the afternoon was very kind and hospitable. I believe his name was Anouar (he spoke French as...

I really had high expectations for this place. When you navigate the split entrance with nearby Bridges amongst the Sofitel Grand Hotel, you’re immediately enamored by this tucked away secret garden ala a Springsteen Anthology. But that might be where the Michelin circle ends. The menu du chef is terribly affordable at 3 courses for 42€ and pair it with 3 wines for another 24€. Great bargain for a red circle. But then you dive into the cuisine and may be sadly a bit disheartened. My first course paired a cool monk fish with a tart green apple local wine and the taste profile were pure opposites. Now to the main dish and a skate that arrives undercooked on a black bean bed with overly residual liquid. Paired with a 2021 overly buttered Chardonnay, I was hoping for some less acidic minerality to complement but no dice. Perhaps a nice Gavi from Italy or a Pinot Blanc from Alsace in France would do sway the epicurean. The wait staff are pleasant and accommodating but there are far too many which leads to organized chaos and a 20 minute wait for a cocktail. If you’re looking for a good escape close to Centraal, this is the place. If you’re looking to be wowed by the chef, best choose somewhere else.
