Oh my goodness this place has the best Portuguese custard tart. The outside crust is flaky, not oily and tasty. The custard has the right amount of sweetness with that little bit of hint of a vanilla I have to say not too dense and it's not too soft it actually is a really amazing Portuguese custard honestly I like it better than the other ones that I've been trying cuz I've actually decided to start going to bakeries and start which one will really the best even from the ones from the original Belem. Word of advice if you buy these custard treats you need to eat them the same day do not try to eat them the next day they do not taste the same they're actually amazing when they're nice and warm with that cinnamon on top but if you try to ship these it is not going to taste the same and it's not just one style it's just basically these pastries don't make it after 24 hours they just taste okay but not amazing when they just come out. If you're in Lisbon and you are near avenue of Liberty or avenue de libertad go to Rue of August there you're going to find this cute little shop look for that name you cannot miss it it looks so unique it's so pretty inside and it's not a huge place and you can't miss it but let me say it again so worth going if you really want to know what a really amazing Portuguese tart taste like this place hands down besides the one in the original spot Belen and pastel de Nata has the best. Also the customer service they pay attention to their people I like that they're not letting people just skip you they actually make sure that they are have everything organized and I actually like that even though they were really busy they knew exactly...
Read moreWe only had one day in Lisbon and I needed to try egg tarts before leaving. So I chose the place with the highest reviews that was within walking distance to the square plaza area. Unfortunately the building was under construction when we visited but thatâs not the reason for my less than optimal review. They only had their pastel de natas and a few coffee options for sale, which would be ok if their few options were really good. Unfortunately they werenât as good as they were hyped up. We went early in the morning but they were still kinda cold, not super crispy, and super sweet (we almost didnât want to finish). However I love all egg tarts so they were still decent. But this review is saying theyâre not all that. I could get the same quality egg tarts by baking the frozen ones bought from Trader Joeâs. Also we went on a cruise a from Spain to Italy after visiting Lisbon and they had free pastel de natas that were BETTER. Lastly we each got a latte and they were super average (and consider that they only have the most basic coffee options). So use this information however you like but Iâm just saying I was expecting something more and hope that you find them more...
