Market Kitchen — Restaurant in Palma

Simply one of the best culinary experiences in my life. Halfway through our course, we made a new reservation for the following day! 😋

We happened to visit Palma for a few days and in our research for potential restaurants for our first dinner, Market Kitchen stood out. I am so glad we decided to try it!

Just next door to the Mercat de Santa Catalina market, this cozy little gem of a restaurant is sure to surprise you.

To begin with, our hostess was friendly, close, helpful, and caring - in a real way, throughout the entire evening. It is not an understatement how much a well humoured host can influence the overall experience, and it's only fair to say she enhanced ours!

We had slow-cooked ribs with mashed potatoes, onion pie and gravy; and a cauliflower steak with a rich sauce of roasted red pepper and tomato.

The ribs were incredibly tender, with a delightful flavor and just the right amount of beef fat that blended seamlessly with the creamy, buttery mashed potatoes—a comforting and flavorful combination.

As for the cauliflower steak, it was cooked to perfection, offering a perfect balance between tenderness and a slight crispness. The roasted red pepper and tomato sauce created a rich, tangy flavor profile, enhanced by just the right amount of harissa for a subtle kick.

Even their skinny fries stood out - they were crispy and accompanied by a unique ketchup after their own homemade recipe. Just another special touch to also enhance a side dish.

Their cocktail selection felt thought out and unique, in taste and presentation alike.

Portions were generous, so we did not order dessert. Still, our coffee orders had a complimentary sampler of their homemade brownie: right texture, not too sweet, a little bit of a salty touch... Delicious!

Market Kitchen exceeded our expectations and left us eagerly anticipating our return - which will be in a few hours! A culinary haven that not only surprises but delights at every turn—undoubtedly a must-visit for anyone seeking an unforgettable dining...

Market Kitchen Santa Catalina in Palma is truly a gem in the culinary world. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Amber one if the owners together with the tantalizing aroma of food being prepared with love and care.

We started off our meal with a cocktail specialty that was refreshing and perfectly balanced, setting the tone for what was to come. The pork and beef roast with roast potatoes, vegetables, Yorkshire pudding, gravy, and all the trimmings was a hearty and satisfying main course. Each bite was bursting with flavor and the meat was tender and cooked to perfection. Chef Rob's expertise shone through in every bite.

The atmosphere at Market Kitchen Santa Catalina was relaxed and welcoming, with funky background music adding to the enjoyable experience. Chef Rob, famous for his work with the BBC television and three incredible cookbooks, made us feel right at home and his passion for food was evident in every dish.

Despite being stuffed from the main course, we couldn't resist indulging in the apple and plum crumble with ice cream for dessert. It was the perfect ending to a fantastic meal - sweet, tangy, and utterly divine.

We also had a sneak peek at the weekly menu and were impressed by the variety of dishes on offer, all made with naturally grown products. Whether you're a meat lover, a vegetarian, or a dessert fanatic, there is something for everyone at Market Kitchen Santa Catalina.

I’ve felt like I was almost the only person yet to get over to Palma to eat at Market Kitchen… but boy when I finally realised the dream tonight, was it worth the wait and the journey from Merseyside!! Outstanding from start to finish! Let me tell you, after years and years of dining out in great restaurants as a job, tonight was so refreshing and impressive in many many ways. Firstly, the food was absolutely delicious, utilising outstanding quality produce and with great balance to the menu. Secondly, the atmosphere with the fantastic art work and amazing play list, was just brilliant. However, what makes this great value, fantastic restaurant stand out from the crowd is the passion not just from chef/owner Rob, but wow.. let’s talk about the hospitality skills of Amber Kirby!! This beautiful human being was born to do this… she is more than a natural! From the moment you step through the doors of Market Kitchen, Amber makes you feel like you’re the only guest in this packed little gem! Yes, I’ve know Rob and Amber a good few years, but tonight, my friend who was with me, who’s never met them before, was just blown away. We witnessed Amber interacting with guests and she was a joy to observe! If only we could bottle up that enthusiasm, passion, knowledge and genuine desire to ensure every guest leaves feeling this was a special moment, we could teach the next generation joining the hospitality industry how to make magic too.
