BASICO Bar Lounge — Restaurant in Colombo

I visited Basico Bar & Lounge at Hilton Colombo Residences yesterday with my fiancé, and I can confidently say it’s one of the best indoor spots in Colombo for drinks, food, and an all-around great time. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted by a fantastic ambiance—an indoor setting with live music that set the perfect vibe for a relaxed evening. There’s an outdoor area too, which is great if you’re a smoker, but we opted for the indoor space with its cool, comfortable AC, and it was absolutely the right choice.

We timed our visit perfectly during their happy hour, which came with an awesome 1-for-1 deal on beverages. Free drinks to kick things off? Yes, please! On top of that, the team surprised us with complimentary beers on the house later in the evening—what a delightful bonus. Speaking of the drinks, they were spot-on, but the food stole the show. We ordered the chicken fried rice, chicken satay, and deviled pork, and oh my goodness, every bite was bursting with flavor. The fried rice was perfectly seasoned, the satay was tender and juicy with just the right amount of spice, and the deviled pork? Hands down some of the best I’ve had in Colombo. Honestly, the food alone is worth the trip.

What really elevated the experience, though, was the service. The team at Basico was phenomenal—attentive, friendly, and genuinely eager to make our evening special. It’s rare to find service this exemplary, and it made us feel so welcomed and valued. They even checked in to ensure everything was to our liking without being overbearing. I’ve been to a lot of places, and this is easily one of the best service experiences I’ve ever had.

Overall, Basico Bar & Lounge is a gem. The combination of a cozy indoor vibe, live music, delicious food, happy hour perks, and top-notch service makes it a standout. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a great spot to unwind with drinks and a meal in Colombo. My fiancé and I are already excited to go back—can’t wait...

It might be a bit small and lacking space inside, but they do have outdoor seats available at the side of it. I tried the Hot Chocolate and it came with cookies (as they had run out of Marshmallows), it was really wonderful.
