This cozy café and restaurant are renowned for its mouthwatering cakes, especially those adorned with luscious chocolate toppings, making it a must-visit spot for both locals and tourists. Historical Charm: Viyana Kahvesi, or Vienna Coffee House, draws inspiration from the rich coffeehouse culture of Vienna, Austria. Established several decades ago, it has become a beloved fixture in Istanbul’s vibrant café scene. The café’s décor beautifully blends European elegance with traditional Turkish elements, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that transports you to another era. The rich history of the area surrounding Galata Tower adds to the café’s charm, making it a perfect spot to relax and soak in the local culture. Culinary Delights: The menu at Viyana Kahvesi offers a delightful array of dishes, but it is their cakes that truly steal the show. Each cake is a masterpiece, carefully crafted with high-quality ingredients and topped with indulgent chocolate that melts in your mouth. • Chocolate Topped Cakes: The café’s signature cakes, such as the rich chocolate mousse cake, the decadent chocolate fudge cake, and the velvety chocolate ganache cake, are crowd favorites. Each slice is a symphony of flavors, with the perfect balance of sweetness and texture, making them irresistible to dessert lovers. • Viennese Pastries: In addition to cakes, the café serves a variety of Viennese pastries like strudels and sacher tortes, providing a taste of Vienna in the heart of Istanbul. • Turkish Delights: While known for its cakes, Viyana Kahvesi also offers an array of traditional Turkish desserts and dishes, allowing visitors to enjoy a fusion of flavors from both cultures. Ambiance and Experience: Viyana Kahvesi is often bustling with activity, especially during peak hours. The cozy interior, with its vintage furnishings and charming décor, creates an intimate setting perfect for enjoying a leisurely afternoon. The outdoor seating area offers stunning views of the Galata Tower, making it an ideal spot for people-watching and savoring the lively atmosphere of the neighborhood. Crowd and Wait Times: Due to its popularity, Viyana Kahvesi can get quite crowded, and waiting for a table is common, particularly during weekends and holidays. However, the experience is well worth the wait. The friendly and attentive staff ensure that once you are seated, you are well taken care of, and the delightful food and ambiance make up for any initial inconvenience. Key Advice: • Timing: To avoid long waits, consider visiting during off-peak hours, such as early morning or late afternoon. • Reservations: If you plan to visit during peak times, making a reservation in advance can help secure a table. • Takeaway: If the wait is too long, you can opt for takeaway to enjoy their delicious cakes and coffee at a nearby park or your accommodation. A Heavenly Delight at Galata Tower: San Sebastián Cheesecake Having read rave reviews about the San Sebastián cheesecake, I recently visited a restaurant near Galata Tower to taste this highly acclaimed dessert. I must say, the experience exceeded my expectations. The restaurant itself exudes a charming ambiance, with its brick walls and sleek black furniture. As I approached, I noticed many people sitting outside on the street, which added to the lively atmosphere and piqued my curiosity. Now, let's talk about the star of the show—the San Sebastián cheesecake. With high hopes, I took my first bite, and it truly lived up to the hype. The cheesecake was incredibly smooth and creamy, melting in my mouth with each heavenly bite. The texture was perfection, striking a delicate balance between lightness and richness. Initially, I opted for a slice with chocolate topping. While it was undeniably delicious, I found the sweetness a tad overpowering for my personal taste. However, a cup of Turkish tea helped to cleanse my palate and enhance the flavors. Encouraged by my first experience, I decided to try another slice, this time without the chocolate. And oh, what a delight it was! The absence of chocolate allowed the true essence of the cheesecake to shine through, resulting in a more nuanced and satisfying taste. If you find yourself near Galata Tower, I wholeheartedly recommend indulging in the San Sebastián cheesecake at this restaurant. The combination of its luscious texture, delightful flavors, and the cozy ambiance of the place make it a must-try dessert. It's a treat that will surely satisfy your sweet tooth and leave a lasting impression.

this is a super popular café/bakery in Istanbul right next to the Galeta tower. The price was quite steep at this place but with the view, I think it’s worth it probably not a place to go every day but if you’re a tourist and you’re looking for a place to sit, taste some cake while getting a really great view of the Galata tower. I think this place would be it. The san sebastian cheesecake with the bitter chocolate topping was really great. I expected it to be way too sweet like other desserts we tried, but it surprisingly wasn’t at all. It was manageable and I still think about it now. if I had more time, I would try other cafés or bakeries in the areas as well as I heard that the famous cheesecake was the same, and this place is just more expensive. their service was fine. We did feel a little rushed during our visit, but probably because we sat in a very “popular” spot right next to the tower so people were kind of eyeing the spot while we were eating. The coffee was just OK. We ordered Americano with a splash of milk on top, but but they just brought an extra little cup of milk and they charged us 40 for that milk as well, which we have never had experienced that before.

I had not a very good experience here whereby i ordered sebastian choc cheesecake but just been given normal cheesecake when they served me. Ok fine maybe they made a mistake so i inform them that this is not the one that I requested as i would like to have the chocolate one. Then they sent me another separate chocolate so I thought that’s how it supposed to be served. Only when I want to pay I noticed that the payment is more than what I supposed to pay whereby they actually key in the cheesecake and the chocolate separately while I was asking the signature sebastian chocolate cheesecake. Knowing Istanbul and their scam tricks on their sleeves it made me feel cheated and I kinda argued with the cashier on why should I asked for separate chocolate when the one that i asked is their signature sebastian chocolate cheesecake? Finally they charged me accordingly after long argument. So guys if you’re ordering please ask them to really put the topping on the cheesecake instead than they give u the one in the small cup. And double check again and point to them the one in the menu with the price.

Treat at Galata Tower, perfect place for the famous San Sebastián Cheesecake. I always visit the restaurant Viyana Kahvesi opposite Galata Tower to try the highly acclaimed San Sebastián cheesecake. The restaurant has a charming atmosphere with brick walls and sleek black furnishings. The crowd outside added to the vibrant ambiance. Now, let's talk about San Sebastián cheesecake. It never fails with its velvety and luscious texture. As usual, each bite melts in your mouth, striking a perfect balance between lightness and richness. The chocolate sauce is delicious but slightly too sweet for me so I usually ask for the chocolate sauce separate, there is no right or wrong it all depends on your sweet tooth. However, a flat white or a tea to go with your cake will enhance the flavors. If you're near Galata Tower, I highly recommend trying the San Sebastián cheesecake at this restaurant. Its sumptuous texture, delightful flavors, and cozy ambiance make it a must-try dessert. It will undoubtedly satisfy your sweet tooth and leave a lasting impression.

Viyana Kahvesi, situated right next to the iconic Galata Tower, is a must-visit gem in Istanbul. While its location might suggest it’s a tourist trap, this café is absolutely worth the hype. The first thing that caught my attention was the stunning view of the Galata Tower. Being able to enjoy a coffee while admiring such a historic landmark adds an unparalleled charm to the experience. Now, let's talk about the highlight of my visit: the San Sebastian cheesecake with melted milk chocolate. This dessert is truly out of this world. The cheesecake is incredibly creamy and rich, while the melted milk chocolate adds a delightful sweetness that perfectly complements the tangy cheesecake. It's a treat that will linger in your memory long after the last bite. Despite its popularity, Viyana Kahvesi maintains a warm and inviting atmosphere. The service is friendly and efficient, ensuring that every visit is as enjoyable as the last. Overall, Viyana Kahvesi deserves a 5-star.
