DON’T VISIT IF YOUR A PERSON OF COLOUR !

Decided to visit this coffee house after driving to burton on the water from Bristol and became dumbfounded by the unprofessional acts displayed in this establishment !!

We were blatantly treated differently due to being people of colour - a member of staff asked if everything was okay and my father responded with the tea was cold and if we could ORDER another pot - ( not receive one complimentary ). The staff member proceeded to say she will speak to the manager inside as the tea should not have been cold and came out with hot water. My father said we would just like to order another pot of tea and if they could ensure It was hot. The manager / owner proceeded to come out and became very hostile with us and attempted to insinuate we would leave without paying our remaining bill ( we had already payed for £35 worth of drinks and scones - only a milkshake outstanding due to ordering it later) and accused us of trying to gain a “freebie” her referring to a pot of tea as a “freebie” is a joke within itself. We were made to feel embarrassed in front of the other customers who may I add, were treated at a much higher regard than ourselves. Disgusting comments were made by the unprofessional owner. We decided to still enjoy the remainder of our drinks. I went to go pay for the milkshake that the owner had insinuated we were trying to steal. As we came to paying she then made another remark about the milkshake - my mother advised her that remarks should not be made to paying customers and it was very embarrassing for us to be spoken to and treated so differently. She again became very hostile and defensive as well as her staff member who tried to become hostile with my younger sister - she came around the till to address and intimidate her !!!

It was a blatant discriminatory act which my mother raised - her response was “I have loads of black friends laughing with the other staff member mocking my mothers distress” she made multiple attempts to physically move my mother and even slammed the door on my sisters foot! They are very aggressive and hostile and can not...

Just before posting here on Google, I read trip advisor reviews too and seems like the owner has a history of being rude and arrogant to her customers, with condescending comments. As customers, when asked we have the right to give our feedback, but at A'moore Coffee House Cafe in Burton on the Water, we ordered drinks, tea and scones, that were paid for in advance. A little while later when the waitress asked us "If everything is alright" we said the teas were cold, at that point the waitress informed the owner, whom came out and started patronising us, saying we should have complained in the beginning (yes I agree we should have but we just forsook it) and only mentioned it as she asked. Anyway we didn't realise that a such minor feedback would result in such hostility and showing a superior attitude towards us and immense patronising response. Also insinuating that we'd walk away without paying for a drink that was placed after the initially paid order. This was while we were still seated and not even leaving the cafe. So when we went in to pay I wanted to tell the owner that her behaviour was not acceptable as she was insinuating that we are thieves and her customer service was appalling. She tried to justify her behaviour by saying " i have black friends", it was an extremely unpleasant experience that ruined a beautiful day to begin with ending up in...

We visited Bourton on the Water on Sunday 2 August 2020 and the town was absolutely packed with tourists, which meant we couldn't find anywhere for a cuppa where there was no queue (I feel sorry for the local residents who must be fed up with us and I don't blame them).

Anyway we found a very attractively presented non-chain coffee house called A'Moore. No queue since it was off the main drag and we had a very nice coffee, baguette and sausage sandwich, all of which were delicious, well made and delivered to our table (Table 20 just outside) by friendly table professionals. While I was ordering I spotted lots of beautiful cakes and chatted with the lady of the house about them. They were all home made and I chose to have the Victoria sponge. I have to say it was one of the most beautiful sponges I've had, very moist, light and totally delicious - at least 46 out of 10. Anyway enough rabbit, this is a splendid coffee house and is highly recommended - Very,...

We had a lovely lunch here and would definitely recommend. The staff were friendly and very welcoming to me and my family including a baby in a pram. They serve a range of fresh sandwiches, homemade cakes and have a soup of the day and hot paninis. This was showing as closed but we came to look anyway and we're so glad that is was open on a Wednesday, it's slightly off the highstreet and a real gem.

The café was recommended to me when I asked someone in a shop for suggestions for somewhere to have lunch. It's not on the main high street, but easy to find. I'm gluten free so it was a real treat to be able to order a gluten free tuna melt panini, which came with a small salad. Beautiful café, lovely atmosphere and very friendly owner. It was the perfect place for my lunch.

We were looking for somewhere for lunch and walking past when one of the waitresses came to show us the menu. I was delighted she did as it was just what we were looking for. Kids enjoyed the tomato and basil soup of the day and I had the vegetarian falafel salad. Delicious! Highly recommend. It’s not on the main high street but so glad we came across this cafe.
