On the afternoon of Tuesday 26th August 2025, a family member & I decided to visit the famous Chester Market Food-Hall. After walking two circuits due to all outstanding premises on offer we ultimately decided upon the MRKT Café. The service was outstanding yet more importantly visual representations of the menu were presented this is something more eateries should do in just a photo of what each dish looks like on a plate can gain custom. Chester Market Food-Hall works as follows: You go to a premises, pay for your dish & potentially beverage then you are given a old-school pager. More than enough seats are available then once the old-school pager is operational via a buzz or ring tone you go to the premises to collect your food. I would strongly advise if you or anyone accompanying you has mobility issues then be seated as near to the selected premises as possible that way you can politely request if the member of staff can assist you in talking the food to your nearby table. My family member & I decided on the same dish which whilst I have forgotten the name yet was meat heaven bliss wonderful. Also, at the Chester Market Food-Hall is a bar selling alcoholic beverages therefore I got two pints of the in-house beer which was outstanding going perfectly with the choice of food. Chester Market Food-Hall is one of my favourite places in The UK, many thanks MRKT Café.

I come here quite often for the breakfasts, I really enjoy them. The staff alone are a reason to come back as they’re lovely and welcoming. The lady with red hair is particularly nice 😊 All of the ingredients taste of good quality. The mini breakfast is usually enough for me because the harsh browns are quite big. The selection of cakes is amazing too! I think it’s all very reasonably priced. I’ve had them to eat in and take away and they’re very consistent. The only little thing I would change is, sometimes the fried eggs can have a lot of excess oil on them. Reducing that would move it from a 9/10 to a 10/10 😁

Came here for first time today with my mum, chose the omelette meal and just WOW! We were shocked how big it was lol, absolutely delicious nicest I've ever tasted, chips were lovely and nice fresh salad and homemade coleslaw with it made it all a perfect meal. Lovely cup of latte also. Staff were very friendly & helpful. Will definitely come again n highly recommend!

Visited the market today for the first time since it opened with my partner and child. Decided we would go what used to be our regular place In the old market, the Mrkt Cafe. I ordered a jacket potato with cheese, a full English and some toast for the little one.

Firstly let’s says about the wait time. We waited over 45 minutes for our food! What is that all about. Secondly when the food arrived the full English was swimming in grease on the plate. There was that much grease on the plate you could smell it. Don’t even get me started with the jacket potato! It was that hard if I threw it at you it would have knocked you out. The toast was dripping in this bright yellow liquid, which I can only presume is butter! Lifted the slice of toast up and the bright yellow butter was dripping off.

I used to always come to the cafe in the old market, the food was always nice and presentable. There’s so attention to detail anymore with the food. The food was so bad I wouldn’t even give it the homeless. I would not recommend this place for food overpriced...

Have bought food from here many times and love it but witnessed worrying hygiene protocol when I went at weekend. Saw the chef wipe his face and nose with hands while he was talking to the lady taking my order then went to pick up my pitta with same hands no hand wash etc I promptly cancelled my order and left. Gutted as I’ve eaten here so many times and felt the food handling and hygiene is spot on but I felt sick witnessing this today and won’t be back

Edited to answer response from owner: This was Sunday 13th evening around 6pm. It was quiet and the chef was at the front speaking with the lady on the till. Face was rubbed with bare hands and I watched him go straight to the back and grab my pitta and start putting the food together. I then told the lady I wanted to cancel. I am sorry to write this review as I have been so many times to your care but I did feel a duty to warn others because of germ...
