Flip — Restaurant in Ashland

I have been looking forward to trying this place out for a while now based on two different recommendations. I had heard about their recent staffing issues and called ahead of time to make sure they were going to be open this last weekend. When I called I was met with us sincerely kind of compassionate person who is genuinely happy that I was calling them. Upon arrival I was delighted to see how clean and upbeat it was in there. We were ordering for five people and they made sure to read our order back to us to make sure they didn't get anything wrong. I love that you can decide your meat cook and so many options including many gluten-free options. I decided to go ahead and get the special of the week which is a birria grilled cheese. Even went so far to put my gluten-free bun inverted so that it would be grilled like a real grilled cheese. Everyone loved their food including the fish and chips, fish sandwich and burgers. I was also delighted to find that the thoughts and fries were crispy even after traveling a little ways and sitting for a little bit. Every single one of the sauces was unique and top-notch and excellent quality. Sometimes when eating meals like this I can feel very heavy and this wasn't the case here it seems like they're using high quality ingredients and oils. As they say you get what you pay for and even if it is a little more expensive it's well worth it in my opinion. I am already looking forward to my next visit to Flip and I can't say enough about how nice the staff...

The food is very good on the off chance they actually get the order right. Tonight’s order was a disaster, and the final straw in a string of horrible experiences at the restaurant. From the milkshakes that might as well have been chocolate milk to the completely incorrect burgers lacking all of the requested toppings and options (that we were still charged for, mind you) it was a mess. I would have thought we were given the wrong box of food, but nope there’s the name of the person who placed the order right at the top of the ticket that’s in the box.

For people looking to eat here I offer you advice: if you get take-out, check your order as soon as it is handed over the counter, otherwise you’ll be very sorry when you get home.

And to the people running the restaurant, if you’re going to charge over $5 for a milkshake, please rethink your policy of blaming the customer for the state of the liquid milkshake rather than actually making a fresh milkshake as the customer picks up the order- which would completely solve the problem.

But hey spending nearly $50 on a bunch of burgers that are completely incorrect is totally fine when you’ve been assured that you’ll be comped “something” the next time you come in if you give them your cell phone number at the time you order. That’s a real shame for us because there’ll be...

I had heard great things about Flip and their burgers, and being a burger aficionado I decided to put them to the test. I applaud any small business that can survive in the tough restaurant biz, so it disappointed me that I found the experience and food so marginal. The tables and unpadded chairs were very uncomfortable and jammed in and the seating could be reworked to include small "deuces" along the wall on the right side of the entry. Although it had just a few customers, my burger took 10-15 minutes to cook with no communication during this time from the front counter staff. The burger was OK but not remarkable. Too much shredded lettuce, although the pickles were great. And I had not been to a burger place that did not have mayonnaise until Flip, this was disappointing. The fries were largely flavorless and over priced. I think this restaurant caters primarily to tourists, but with a little rework on the food and ambience and customer service they could appeal to locals too.
