I feel I ran into some racism today. I cane in to pick up my pizza, and Im talk and big. Nobody can miss me. An old white dude runs in skipping the line, asking for his order. The man at the counter asks if he is next. I say "Hey, Im next"! Then he finishes two previous orders, looks up and asks whos next again, trying to put the old guy ahead of me. I again state, Im next. I move to the counter, and notice the scruffy cashier wont look at me, but keeps giving the old man attention. He asks who is next again, looks me dead in the face as I tell him again. The old man even jumps in, "Go ahead and help him, he is next". He apologizes for cutting the line. The cashier bags up the OLD MANS STUFF - AGAIN IGNORING ME! Now hes "confused". As he is bagging up the Old mans order! I see him glancing at me, he knew what he was doing I ask him why he isnt listening to me. "I didn't see you..." LIAR! I was right across the counter from him
My money not good enough to acknowledge my existence? Im so Black I disappear when whites are around? Then my money isnt good enough to spend in your establishment, and my word of mouth is going to spread that experience.
My star deduction is based on two things - hard, old grease cooked, tasteless french fries that were probably cooked out of a bag. Second, styrofoam packaging. What are we teaching the future generation with unsustainable packaging that causes affliction when heated? You can move it to another container, but is every kid thinking on...

Lousy, overcooked, overpriced burger; inattentive service; ill-maintained bar, all when the place was empty at 9 pm on a cold Friday night.
Since I quit drinking, I ordered a glass of tonic water; but their carbonator was empty and and actually received soda water. When I told the guy covering the bar, he checked and said I was right, so I said I'll drink it anyway'
I also ordered a "½ pound Angus" burger medium rare with the Caesar salad, and the first burger came out so dry and overcooked, it was charred, so I sent it back, telling the waiter "I don't mind paying $12 for a burger, but at least cook it right;"
I accidentally spilled my soda while pushing the charred burger plate over to the waiter, and he said "I'll get you another one"...And didn't, until I asked again for it 10 minutes later when my second burger came out;
The second burger was a bit juicy, but was medium-well to well; but now in a hurry to catch the 9:55 bus, I accepted it as I was getting hungry... And it was only a ⅓ lb frozen burger (like I buy by the box at the store), not a ½ lb. As I was eating it, the bun fell apart as the cook didn't bother to toast the bun on the flattop;
The tiny "Caesar salad" serving on the plate with the burger had absolutely tasteless dressing; so I left it.
All in all, between the service and the overpriced, ill-prepared food, I'll...
Read moreI was in Atlanta for a conference, and the day after the event, 3 of my friends decided to hop in the car and head to midtown to find something different to eat. I was in the mood for pizza, and was pleased to see the sign for Ray's. As a native New yorker, I was curious to see how authentic the food would be, and I was NOT disappointed. The restaurant was clean and inviting, and the outdoor seating provided the option to enjoy the lovely afternoon temperatures. I was greeted warmly by Matthew, who helped me as I pondered what I would ultimately choose. I mentioned it had been some time since I had a good calzone, and he immediately advised that Ray's calzone's were terrific. He was absolutely correct. The crust was perfectly oven-baked crunchy on the outside, and the exact amount of soft, melt in your mouth doughy on the inside. The cheeses literally oozed out of the calzone after my first bite, and the marinara sauce was the perfect balance of tomato and spices to be the spot on dipping sauce needed to accent every bite. Real New York flavor in the middle of Midtown Atlanta with warm, personable staff and a clean, comfortable and pleasant to the eye seating area with multiple TV screens. I have shared my unexpectedly delightful experience with no less than 25 friends in the area since yesterday, and will definitely be back when I return in November. This time we will order pizza...
