Breakfast on point! After fighting the crowds at all the local hippy places I finally gave up and came to this diamond in the rough. Parking was a bit tight but that didnāt deter my belly. Once inside I felt right at home. The waitress let me sit where I wanted and as soon I did she brought over some of the spiciest salsa and chips I have had in Austin. I love my salsa a little thick and this didnāt disappoint. Of course I came for breakfast and not the chips and salsa. Working my way through all of the options I chose to go the taco route. I was torn between the chorizo and beans and the beans and egg or the potato and eggs. Geez what was I to do? In this situation I did what anyone should do. I ordered all three and an extra potato and egg for good measure. Did I want coffee ? Yea ,why not, when in Rome. The tacos came back after a few mins wait and I dove right into the potato and egg. Great flavor and brought back memories of my moms papas (potatos) and eggs. The flour tortilla was a little over done but had just the right fluffiness. I wonāt die of a little scorch. Next, came the chorizo and egg. I must say I wasnāt a fan but I had to try for myself. I think it needed a little more spice but hey I love the heat. Finally came the bean and eggs. I was excited since i was ready to see if these beans came close to my great abuelitaās. Scoreeee, yes I am a fan. You can tell an old school cook by their beans. Beans, had just the right amount of fat and the smoothness of the mash was the perfect creaminess. After 4 tacos I was ready for a nap. I recommend Angieās for breakfast for sure. As far as the other dishes Iāll be back soon to try them out. Until then, Angieās you have a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI understand times are getting harder with close to $4.00 a gallon for gasoline but you cannot steal from your customers and expect to stay in business for long. We had a large party and she said we could not seperate out the ticket. So we each went up there and told her what we had and she began literally making up numbers. My buddy had one entree and 2 drinks and she told him his bill was $50. Another buddy in our party was overcharged by over $20. When he asked her to itemize everything she was about $20 over and he made her pay him back the $20 in cash after he was charged the bill on his card. Once everyone figured out what she was doing she had to start refunding money to everyone. BTW, do not order a shot of tequila because she charged us $8.50 for ONE shot of tequila. Also if you order anything extra like a couple of extra tortillas she will jack you up for those too.
When I first got there I was surprised that the place was empty on a Friday night especially in that location however now I know why.
BTW, the food was OK however does not compare to places like La Tapatia or Juarez Bakery in Round Rock (which has the best Mexican food in the Austin area and is more than...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGood Tex-Mex food with excellent service. Really enjoyed my meal here. Very authentic local food served quick and simply. The servers were all super friendly and attentive without being on top of you. This place is about serving the simple, good staples of Tex-Mex food at a decent price, so don't go expecting a fancy setting with extravagant dishes. The margarita was strong and the salsa has a nice kick. Enchiladas were very tasty, too. Really happy I wandered in there on my stay in Austin.
I read a few reviews on here about the servers not bringing a check to the table quickly when you're done. That's not the way the place works. I watched a few locals and quickly noticed a number on the table. Go to the register when you're finished and tell them your table number then pay at the counter (diner-style). If you need an itemized check, just request it...
