June 2024

My wife and I were staying at the Fairmont Austin and twice dined at Revue for brunch. Overall I was impressed with the quality of the food.

For the first day was seated with another couple on a long table. We were on one end and they were on the other. I ordered a coffee and decided to give their buffet a try. Our waitress seemed not impressed I ordered the buffet. She did bring the coffee quickly and it was really good with a nice aroma and flavor. I headed to the small room up front to see what was available and had the standard items found at hotels like eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, oatmeal, fruit, and yogurt. I grabbed a plate and added scrambled eggs, lots of bacon, sausage that had cheese in it, breakfast potatoes, and the wonderful eggs with chicken in it. All of it was really good but the eggs with chicken was the highlight of the buffet. It had so much flavor and very delicious.

The next day I was too full for the buffet even though I would not mind just eating the eggs & chicken, but ordered the Avocado Toast with a mimosa. This time we were seated at a nice private table for two. The restaurant manager even brought out my plate and placed it in front of me where the Avocado Toast was beautifully presented. It was a large piece of grilled sourdough bread with avocado on it along with a poached egg. It was very delicious and had great flavor. I enjoyed...

Diverse eatery, sometimes great and sometimes not at all. I really want to love Revue at the Fairmont; I ate here 4 times. The restaurant is themed to be multiple kitchens with multiple neighborhoods, offering a fairly diverse selection across cuisines. The restaurant sits on the ground floor of the hotel towards the back. The facility itself if gorgeous with almost a kind of movie-set feel. Reception was mixed, sometimes very professional and fast and other times slow with rude host staff. The servers were universally good but sometimes disappeared for long periods of time (perhaps overworked). The food was mostly fantastic, although I recall one morning when the buffet (normally spectacular) was terrible (poorly stocked; bad tasting and old food). Likewise, sometimes management engagement was visible and effective and other times management staff were absent. The cost is a bit on the high-side for the inconsistency in service and quality. Overall, Revue is not a great value at this time, especially for a hotel surrounded by great restaurants. However, there is a waiting gem in Revue if the management can tune the restaurant for consistency in high quality service and food and bring the operations up to the level expected...

Went in to try the breakfast buffet at the Revue in Fairmont Hotel Austin. The spread was not as big as I expected for the price (35 per pax, drinks not included). They had the usual hotel breakfast buffet spread- eggs, bacon, sausage, and muffins. The extra ones are the shrimp and grits, fresh oysters and smoked salmon that seemed to have been made fresh but those did not really stand out. The best part of their offering was from their cook-to-order menu. This included small portions of Belgian waffles, churros (my favorite), eggs Benedict, chicken and waffles and French toast. I'd rather stick to that menu where everything tasted fresh and satisfying. There was also a candy bar. You'll be given a small envelope after your meal to take home some candies. The service was good. Our server was very attentive and quick. So to sum it all up, the positives were the service, decor, and good food from the made-to-order menu. Aside from those, the actual buffet was just like from any 2-3 star inn. Also, be prepared to spend $30+ on garage parking. It's not even valet parking for the price. There are better breakfast options out...

The food was pretty good, I got the margherita pizza and my boyfriend got the pappardelle bolognese. My issue was the service, literally the entire staff ignores you. Shout out to Carlos for not checking up on us for a solid 20 minutes! :) The servers passed by and ignored us too. I’ve been a server for several years, this is kinda really unacceptable. There was only one who genuinely seemed to care but unfortunately I did not get her name. She was pleasant! Everyone else should brush up on their hospitality and raise their standards, I have never been so annoyed.

Fair Play is a great drink you have to try. The Sunday Brunch buffet is a bit pricey at $35, but we are foodies and will pay for good food. Belgian Waffles and Chicken and Waffles are a must try. The seafood waa not up to our expectations, but rest was great. The dessert bar is amazing. Great atmosphere as you get a feel like you are eating along side a street with buildings all around. Live music in the corner was a nice touch. The walk up buffet is normal breakfast items. They have u limited cook to order from menu.
