Looked on Google for a place with good food and great reviews close to my job and found this place as the #1 recommendation. We got to the place and were immediately sat down, and handed the Beer and food menus. There was no Liquor (which is the only thing I can drink since I cannot have bubbles due to a medical condition) but that is my fault for not looking at the menus prior to arriving. Beer selection was large and good for my coworkers. But this is where it goes down hill. We ordered food, and besides the fact that the bartender is the server and the cook as well, the food was below the quality of frozen food from a box. The sampler platter was clearly cooked in an air fryer or oven at best. The onion rings where dry and burnt, the popcorn chicken was very dry and flavorless, the Mac and cheese bites also had no flavor or any type of seasoning and the mozzarella sticks seems to have been made with crescent dough and old cheese. I wish this was the worst part but no……the Loaded nachos….these had burnt stale tasting chips and we are quite sure the cheese was either expired or about to be as it tasted somewhat fermented. We stopped eating them immediately and are almost positive we will get sick. The pizza was ok. Please stick to beer before getting someone sick.

Although I arrived later in the evening I was pleasantly surprised to not only be warmly greeted but also find that the kitchen was still open. A little anxious about portion sizes as I didn’t want to over indulge, was very happy with the tenders and chips - they were proper chips but baked (not at all greasy) tasted fresh and crisp. Chicken was well cooked. An enormous beer list that could make a bar ten times the size feel inadequate … tv screens with a couple of different channels showing and one on a quiz app. JR is the owner, very affable and to be commended for setting up a great bar in a little side street … I found it on a google search and I hope many others do too. This bar deserves to thrive.

JR is the bestttttt ! First date here and the environment is so cozy and warming. JR told us the history of this restaurant and explained the whole menu in depth. He gave us laughs all night! The food is amazing, so fresh I can tell they actually care about satisfying the customers. I will definitely be back!!!! 10 out of 10 , give this place a visit !!

Excellent local bar! As a newcomer to Baltimore, I was on the hunt for a good spot, and after four months, The Starting Lineup is the place I keep coming back to. They have a huge selection of drinks, which just keeps getting larger and more diverse—especially after the addition of two new deep fridges!

The community here is incredibly welcoming and always ready with helpful advice on what to do and see in the city. The owner, JR, is friendly and accommodating, always engaging with customers and seeking their input on what to add next. For me, it is this kind of dedication and community spirit that makes The Starting Lineup standout.

I couldn't ask for a better place to unwind and enjoy a drink. Excited to see...
