I came here with high hopes: a cozy family run shop tucked away in the edge of Bellevue downtown. I was initially surprised when it was almost completely empty. When I took the first sip of the noodle soup I immediately knew why. The beef noodle soup was horribly bland, and the noodles weren’t special at all. Fried gyoza were on the soggy side and the xiao long bao had a thick rubbery skin. The filling was decent but nothing special. I will say however the waiter was very nice and friendly. If Dough Zone and Din Tai Fung are around an 8, this place would be a 6. I want this place to do well but at its current state it can barely even hold a candle to Dough Zone. If things don’t change, this restaurant will remain empty. what a shame.

So happy we found this place! I would compare it to Dough Zone, with northern Chinese style dumplings and noodles. The pan fried buns were the standout for me, but everything was delicious. Parking was easy- there is a group dedicated retail parking spaces under Avalon apartments. Note- there is a sweet spot to eating the XLB. Too soon, and you’ll melt your tongue. Too late, and the soup has been absorbed by the thick-style wrapping. Good luck! There is soy sauce and black vinegar on the table, for dipping. The only snafu was that we ordered beef curry, and received chicken. My daughter had nearly finished the bowl before she mentioned anything to me, so we didn’t bother to bring it up to the waiter. Haha. Oh well. Next time!

Come here for the food, and don't be too picky about the service ;) we ordered beef noodle soup, pork shrimp wonton soup, chicken and mushroom dumplings. This is northern Chinese style food (but menu also includes some Japanese inspired curries and foods). The wontons were juicy and soup was great flavor with wild laver, cilantro, and green onion. The beef noodle soup was satisfying. The dumplings were also nice and juicy and served on a colander plate so it doesn't get mushy. Try it with the hot chili oil and black vinegar. Pleasantly surprised at the food quality. Bring a warm coat if it's a cold day because they don't seem to have heat here! Park in the Avalon visitor parking garage and walk right in.

I wish Google allowed reviews with 0 stars because 1 star is far too high for this atrocity of an establishment. I ordered online on their website that is clearly advertised and posted across their Google Maps and Yelp pages, as well as the first result on search. The site failed to confirm my order, giving an error, but charged me the money nonetheless -- so I went in-person to clarify. I get it, technical difficulties happen! But the cashier refused to take accountability or ownership, instead telling me that they "don't get notified" of orders from the website and that the site is hosted by a third-party. I showed him the charge on my credit card bill, and he kept telling me to call the third-party website company to see if I can get the charge reversed. I asked if I could at least have my order still fulfilled, to which he adamantly refused, saying that I would have to pay the amount again in-store. I asked if the website I ordered from is their website, which he confirmed it was -- meaning I didn't do anything wrong.

I found it incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional that he would put the burden of trying to get my money back and sort out the situation on ME, considering that the website is something THEY set up and the third-party is a company THEY chose to work with. If you're going to set up a website, then you should be okay with taking accountability if it malfunctions. Additionally, he kept insisting that it would be "easy" to sort out the charge, but if it were really so easy, why couldn't he just fulfill the order I had paid for?

He finally told me to go sit in the corner because they were "busy and had to serve the customers," and that maybe later on, if they happened to get a chance, they would try to call the company. Not only did this make me feel disrespected, I was also here during the middle of my workday, and could not afford to sit around since my lunch break was ending. (Mind you, I still had not been able to eat.)

Truthfully, I would not have had any issue if they had apologized even once, as I understand that these situations can be confusing -- but they chose to treat me as if I were the one being unreasonable. With service as horrible as this, it makes sense now that I hardly ever see this place busy -- not to mention that the food I've had here previously was mediocre at best. There are so many better choices nearby. Save your money for somewhere that actually produces quality food and values their customers! Absolutely unacceptable behavior.

EDIT: The reply just further doubles down on the behavior I called out above…no accountability and framing me to look unreasonable — very disappointing. I was not told anything about a 48 hour refund guarantee, or that the payment was confirmed to not have gone through, or that I would have received an email if my order was successful (when ordering, I did not even check the box allowing email notifications.) I was only told to call the third-party company to get the charge solved, which is very different because there was no guarantee mentioned, so of course I’d be upset as a customer. Lying about what happened isn’t a...

Food is decent; we have been here a couple times when hungry with kids. This time we ordered takeout (1 order of 4 buns and a soy milk) and the services was TERRIBLE. The guy at the front either doesn't understand how to do basic customer service or doesn't care. I waited over 15 minutes before asking after my order. The first time he started to say something and then all of a sudden stopped and walked away to serve someone else without saying anything to me, just walked away in the middle of a sentence. I had to wait at the front for him to return and I finally got my question out again and he went to the back and maybe asked something and I heard them respond with "are they waiting? are they waiting" and he came back out and said "are you waiting?" Clearly I'm waiting; I've been waiting right at the bench at the front so it's not like he didn't know I was waiting. I asked how long it would take and he walked right past me laughing and saying "I have no idea." This is when I started to get really frustrated because what kind of answer is that to a customer? I was upset and told him at this point most restaurants would have apologized and tried to figure out what the problem and try to solve it. When I asked again what the issue was, he looked at my order and said very surprised, "oh you already paid?" This is super frustrating as I was the only one ordering takeout during this time and the restaurant was not that busy (no line, quite a number of empty tables, only 1-2 phone in orders to pick up at that time). Very concerning he couldn't even remember that I had paid. The cook came out and said the order would take 30 min even though I complained and said people who arrived after me already had their multiple orders of food. I told them the guy never told me it would take so long for the order, and I said he didn't even apologize. At which point the cook says to him to apologize and then he automatically smiles and apologies. I don't think he even knew why he was apologizing. If you really like the food here then just be aware you need to stay on top of the guy at the front and don't expect great service or communication if something goes wrong. Won't be coming back unless we...

I have been to this place since COVID. A big fan of its pan fried buns. Never got any issue with the food quality/freshness or server. Front desk ladies are always friendly. The young chef is very nice as well.

I would vote negative star if I could for what I experienced today. TL;DR, a comment about “some” Chinese offended me who is a Chinese.

I called in around 12pm today to place a pick-up order. I saw the menu posted by others on Google shown that 6 pan fried buns for $13, but I only got 4 from my last order. I asked to check if they have changed the menu since, instead of offering 6, 4 buns are what we got now? The gentleman on the phone seems be irritated by my question and explained impatiently. Till this point, I’m feeling confused why he got mad though I understand the inflation has caused many price spikes. Anyway…I placed my order for steamed beef dumpling and went to pick it up. This elder gentlemen seems a chef and they don’t have any server today so he played two roles both server and chef. We talked about pan fried buns again and one of his comments on Chinese made me feel extremely uncomfortable, he said, he wouldn’t wanna serve some Chinese as they are rude and impolite especially during lunch time. His tone is very rude. Not sure if he is trying to imply something, but as a Chinese, obviously, I was offended by this comment.

Besides, just a thought from my personal experience - 4 buns are really not enough for an adult lunch. Perhaps, you can increase the price for 6 buns to offset the inflation has caused on ingredient price change or offer an option to customers to add 1 or more buns with extra price.

However, given such unpleasant experience I might not wanna...
