I am new to the boston area, and i am sick of having to dye my hair every 2-3 weeks do to the sheer amount of grey I have. I called to book my appointment, and explain that i am ready to start blending my grey with my brown hair. I even explained on the phone what I wanted while looking at my reference photos and that I’ve had to dye my hair at home due to being new to Boston and not having hairstylist yet. I was assured this would not be an issue. Spoiler alert, it was an issue.
My hair stylist Angela isn't even listed in the reviews or on the website, so either she is super new, or she does such bad job constantly that they remove all her reviews. I was also told that 1 person just quit and another is on vacation for the rest of the month so you can tell the remaining 2 stylists are stressed. My appointment was at 3, and I wasn’t seen until 3:30 because there are only 2 stylists working there and they are crazy short staffed. I showed Angela the reference pictures I described on the phone, and she’s like “I don’t do that type of color, but I can do something to blend ”. Then she kept on telling me I had a lot of banding, I agreed but since I clearly told them that I had to dye my hair at home a few times when I booked the appointment I figured she knew this ahead of time and had a plan.
Well $315 before tip later (they didn’t even charge me for the full services since I think she realized how messed up this is) , I have the chunkiest highlights I have seen since the mid 2000’s . The sad part is that the whole time Angela was hyping me up and telling me it looked good, so maybe she thinks this is good work? I also had to leave the salon with my hair wet because they didn't have time to blow dry, but I think it was so I couldn’t see how bad the whole head looked. I have included pictures of...
Read moreI had the best color and cut at House of Color Salon with Rogue! First off, the salon itself is beautiful, spacious, and tidy. The other staff I encountered were so friendly and professional too. It was incredibly easy to book an appointment, and I got one way sooner than I had even expected!
Rogue was instantly so welcoming and made me feel at ease (I’m always nervous to visit a new hair stylist). She spent some time to learn what I had done to my hair in the past, what I liked/didn’t like, and my goals for our session. I felt so seen by Rogue, which is really special: she understood not just the aesthetic look I wanted to achieve but also the “vibe” I wanted to put out.
It had been almost a year since my last full color session, so we needed to do full foils to lift my natural color, plus creative color and a cut. Despite the fact that we needed to lighten my hair a lot to achieve the colors I wanted, my hair feels healthy and strong. It was an all-day appointment (I have a lot of very thick hair) and Rogue put in so much hard work. I could not be happier with the end results!
Rogue is a true artist when it comes to both color and hair cutting/styling. She also gave me great advice for maintaining my color, and suggested a product to help keep my hair healthy. I also really appreciated how easy it was to talk with Rogue; it was a long appointment and I can be shy with new people, but we had great conversations and I really enjoyed her company.
I will be coming back to House of Color, and Rogue specifically, for all of my hair needs while I’m in Boston. It was worth every single penny! Thank...

Angela me at the door. I was crying. I'm a homeless veteran. I wanted to treat myself to a cut and color.
I explained that I could afford to cover the regrowth. Not a cut
I think I was crying the whole time I was there. I was crying because I used to be able to afford professional hair salons. Hpw did I get here?
She came back and said, "I explained your situation to the owner. She said we are going to wave the charge for your hair."
I was flooded with emotion!
Then she said, "Thank you for your service."
Then Angela washed put the product while she massaged my scalp like Like (?) I don't know.
But, I was in a calm for the rest of the day I wanted to ask her, "Are you real because I don't encounter this compassion off the street, so to speak.
She explained that she's been doing hair since the age of 16. And she loves her calling.
That explains some But I don't know
I think I saw wings under her smock.
She broughty hair that life And sheadee feel hope And she made me feel and...
