What a fun, cozy place! They have taken the tiki hut theme and magnify that 10 times over. They serve their cocktails in typical tiki hut classes but their food is far from tiki hut themed food. Sure they offer amazing looking burgers and fries but they also have amazing pan-Asian inspired cuisine, such as poke bowls with udon noodles, spicy endiames, coconut shrimp and krab rangoon for example. Make sure you save room for dessert. We all shared a slice of key lime pie, but the Hawaiian bread pudding also sounded interesting.
Get here early like around 5:15ish if you want dinner, otherwise be prepared to either have to wait or eat at the bar. And if you get there before 6:00, definitely indulge in their happy hour where they have two for one snacks, and discounts on beer, wine and their specialized margaritas.
I believe there's only three guys out front to work the bar, seat people, take food orders, and serve. And even though the place got more and more crowded as time went on we were served in a timely manner, we never felt rushed, the guys were always friendly and we never knew which wait staff person would be coming to our assistance for they had a perfect tag team routine going.
Next time we visit Breckenridge we will definitely go to this...
Read moreThe ambience is cool and the adult meals are priced well, especially for Breck. Food was average, pretty salty and service was so-so. I didn't get a drink so can't comment on the drinks. Happy our appetizers are a good deal at 1/2 price. My reason for the poor review was the kids meals. Two kids got mac & cheese, $9 each which seems like a lot for a kid's meal, but again it's Breck. But once the food came out I was disappointed - didn't include a drink or side, which kid's meals usually do. It was literally just a small cup of mac & cheese, nothing else. The mac & cheese was clearly Kraft - whatever - but the portion size was so small, left both small 7-year olds hungry and had to get more food elsewhere. I'd estimate it was 1/2 batch of a box of Kraft split between the kids, and was room temperature so was clearly leftover from a batch made for another kid earlier. I thought $18 ($24 after tax and tip) for 1/2 a box of leftover Kraft mac & cheese with no sides or beverages was ridiculous. We told them it was room temperature hoping the kids would get something fresh (who knows how long it had been sitting), but they just microwaved...

A spontaneous walk in the rain led my family and I to this hiddeng gem. Off the "well beaten path", our discovery with Castaway Cove became more than just a "pit stop" to fill our grumbling bellies. it became THE HIGHLIGHT of our trip to Breckenridge, and that's saying alot, considering our jam-packed extended weekend, complete with paddle-boarding, hikes and apline roller coaster experiences.
The unique islander ambiance, complete with music selection, interior/exterior design and menu options were all part of the experience. But more than this, was our encouter with the people who made our time spent there, most memorable. They say that culinary cuisine starts with the hands that prepare it. In every sense of the word, our meals were prepared with the same attention, love and care we received from the staff. A shout out to LEE (our waiter), who went above and beyond to accommodate us and even threw in an extra special unexpected suprise as we departed.
If you're looking for a real experience to start off or cap off your Breckenridege adventures, LOOK NO FURTHER. Castaways...
