We have dined here once before on recommendation from friends so when we were in town again, we decided to return! This restaurant is on main street. Look for the black awning and then go down the stairs. This place does NOT do reservations or call ahead seating so you physically have to enter the restaurant to place your name on the wait list. They do text you when your table is ready as well as announce it over the speakers of the waiting area, which is also an arcade. There are restrooms here as well. You can purchase an arcade card and swipe it at the many games they have and that can help pass the time. You can also walk around town for a little bit as you can check your place in line on the waitlist on the text. This place is super popular so expect a wait. We went at 2pm on a Saturday and they quoted us 1 hour to 1 hr and a half. We ended up waiting an hour and went in at 3pm on a Saturday. The last time we came was for dinner after skiing/snowboarding and we also waited about an hour. They do have a walk up bar area where you can get drinks in the meantime and that is also where you order your to-go food. You can park on the street if you can find it and pay, or you can park in the airport road free lot and take the shuttle to the gondola. Then its about a 5 minute walk over from there. If you are staying at a hotel, there are many included hotel shuttle services that take you downtown that you can take advantage of as well. This place is super busy. We sat for about 10 minutes before we were greeted, but I could tell that our server was "triple sat." He thanked us for our patience and took our order. Each table gets a carafe of water. Last time we ordered pizza and calzones which were absolutely huge but absolutely amazing. This time we ordered the Eric's famous baked wings. They were tossed in buffalo and then baked so they were crispy and not messy. They were extremely meat-y/large which is good for the price you pay ($16), you get 8 wings. The celery was even crispy and the blue cheese was the creamy kind so that was great as well. We also got the Thai chicken salad. It was a large portion with a lot of chicken so that was great. The dressing was very peanut concentrated and had a small kick. It was great, just use in small portions so as not to overpower the salad. We all ate everything we got. Even though it was a slow start we got our food in 15 minutes! But when we were finished we could see our server running around, so we had to wait a little bit to pay. They do have the handheld devices that they hold in front of you while they watch you tip so just be aware of that interaction. However our server was really nice and thanked us for our patience many times and we enjoyed our experience. It does have basement vibes with brick walls. They have old Breckenridge town signs on the wall to give it a dive bar/sports bar theme. They have many large Tv's playing a variety of sports. Overall we love this place just come prepared ahead of time with a game plan to wait for your table, and the time to...
Read moreCame across this place after spending a long time scrolling through restaurants that had a good vegan menu that weren't Piante Pizza (Which is awesome.)
First I want to say that Downstairs at Eric's is fantastic. It's one of those places that you may not know about if you're just rolling through Breck for a short vacation or visit. This hidden gem is located just off Main St, below ground.
Once you enter through the interstice and descend the stairs, the lights and sounds of fun and games greet your ears and the bustling arcade presents itself.
The arcade has all the popular games such as skeeball, air hockey, side by side racers, shooters, pinball, and many others.
Adjacent you'll find the restaurant. On the menu you'll find a fairly large array of typical American pizzaria and pub fare. The portions are great and the pricing is modest compared to the rest of the options one may encounter whilst they visit Breckinridge.
This brings me to what I started this whole review about. Amidst all the toppings and menu items, Eric's has the some of the MOST plant based options of any Summit County restaurant besides Piante and Clints, but Clints is only open until 9 daily, and Piante Friday - Sunday until 8 or 9. Downstairs at Eric's is open 11 to 11 everyday, and until 12 on Friday and Saturday.
I was looking for a place with a Beyond Burger and also vegan cheese. I was ready to give up when I came across the menu for Downstairs at Eric's. They not only have Beyond, but also Meati chicken and a black bean patty as well.
My partner and I just so happened to be rolling in late after work on a Friday and arrived at 10pm. Thankfully, the kitchen is open until 10:30pm and there were plenty of patrons still dining and enjoying evening cocktails.
As a sports fan I was delighted to see TVs lining the entirety of the restaurant and bar with every type of different programming such as basketball, hockey, college football, winter sports videos, and a few other random things.
The food was plenty good the staff and service was excellent, the atmosphere was positive and welcoming, and there was no shortage of things to look at.
Additionally seating was comfortable and well spaced and there's a full bar with about 50 different beer options and nearly as large of a selection of liquor.
I left Eric's feeling extremely satisfied and pleased to have found this place and look forward to going back to try their pizza.
I strongly encourage everyone to give Downstairs at Eric's a try sometime, and be sure to set aside some time...
Read moreGlad to see we (my boyfriend and I) who arrived at about 10:40 PM last night to eat and play games, aren't the only people who had serious issues with attitudes and service. We saw this place when we were out and about and being the night owls we are, when we saw it was open til midnight we thought that was perfect for us! So we came back, but it was obvious they were super angry with us despite it being over an hour before they closed. They told us the only thing we could order was pizza and that we wouldn't get a table because "they were about to close" and we were like... we thought you didn't close for almost another 90 minutes, and the 2 ladies and one guy there just stared at each other and us and then proceeded to ignore us. After ignoring us and forcing us to sit at the very full bar for a while, they then decided to rush me into trying to pay for the bill before we even saw our food (keep in mind it's now past 11 now and the other people at the bar were still eating, being served their drinks, and the crowd of guys in there were definately a lil sketch not that that is the place's fault. Just would not stop staring at me and the other female waitresses and talking crudely and loudly). The food came and literally as I am opening the box of pizza to check it out the one lady gets snippy with me and says I need to pay now and I was like... um okay that's weird but whatever. They were also giving us a hard time (guilting us because of their closing style) about moving to the arcade side of the restaurant to get away from the weird men who were making me very uncomfortable at this point but we didn't care and moved anyways so we could salvage a tiny bit of time together with a little bit more peace where I could eat without feeling like my every move was being watched or judged. The pizza was amazing actually, games are a lil pricey but we ended up having an okay time once we got away from the bad energy of the waitresses and men and were able to sit at a table right next to the bar, just on the other side of the wall. We would have gone back again today just for the food and games but we'd rather try somewhere else with friendlier staff even if it means eating...
