Rude server that could not be bothered.
We arrived past the lunch rush at about 2:30-3pm. Upon arriving, we informed the hostess (female with short curly hair) that there were 6 people in our party but there were only 2 of us present and that we would like to order ahead. She mentioned she could seat the 2 of us right away inside and that the rest of the party could follow afterwards.
We were sat in one of two booths, tucked by the staircase. After 10 minutes, our server arrived (long dark hair, in a ponytail) and asked us if we would have more joining our party. We mentioned there would be 6 total but we would like to order ahead before they arrived. She left and promptly returned with 2 menus and 6 water cups and 2 pitchers. She said "You'll have 6 right?". We confirmed that again.
We did not see her again for another 20 minutes. 2 of our other companions arrived and our server came back and asked for drink orders. We gave them to her and as she was about to leave again, we told her we were ready to order food like we told her when we initially sat down. In a very irritated voice, she said "We don't take orders until your entire party is here". To which I responded that we communicated that both to the hostess and to her when we first arrived. She then said in a loud and very rude tone, "Well I can take it now" and repeated that twice as if we didn't understand it the first time. The rest of our party arrived 5 minutes after.
A gentleman server/manager attempted to make it up by delivering the food to us quickly. The female server checked up on us twice prior to our departure but was just going through the motions.
My suggestion to the restaurant- please talk to your server and ensure she actively listens to customers. She could have made a good tip and a higher check had she taken orders ahead of time as we would have been more inclined to have a beverage or two while waiting for the rest of our party. As someone who previously owned a restaurant and is currently in the tourism industry, please teach her that empathy and apology both go a long way. While your location is cute, people can find mediocre bar...
Read moreI hesitate to write this review, especially because it was very obvious they were understaffed. However, some of the things that happened during my group’s visit needed to shared.
When one of the members of our group ordered a beer and handed our server his ID, the server responded “that’s not you, you’re not 5’8 or 160 pounds, stand up.” The server made him stand up to see his height/weight, and it wasn’t until our group member showed him old photos that he moved on from the topic. It was embarrassing for this person, and was handled very unprofessionally.
Throughout the rest of the meal, we felt like a burden to the server, drinks were handed out sloppily and spilled, incorrect meals were sent out, and the server seemed like he really did not like us. When the food was handed out, the server said “here is the chicken club” to a member of our party, when she ordered the BLT. When she asked the server “this is the BLT, right?” he said “yes.” Several minutes later, another employee came over with the correct sandwich, since she was given the chicken club and told otherwise.
Towards the end of the meal when our server came back for checks, he asked how we wanted to pay, and before we could answer he said “I really do not want to split checks.” Of course, with a group of 8, we were going to need to split the checks. He grudgingly went item by item and put it on different checks, and it wasn’t until then that he realized he handed out and said the wrong sandwich was the right sandwich. The server apologized and then began to talk about how understaffed they were and that “when you write a bad review make sure to mention we were understaffed.”
Overall, the food was great, but the service and treatment was less...
Read moreI had heard a lot about Ollie's that had me really excited to find my neighborhood bar and grill. What I found was a tourist trap with way overpriced food.
There's a lot they are doing right. Sports bar on the first floor with good sound and plenty of TVs. I was able to enjoy the Lions Vikings game, and the place had a great atmosphere.
The food is good but nothing I would rave about. They advertise the best burger and wings in Breckenridge, but I have had better elsewhere in town. That isn't to say that the food is bad either. I enjoyed the wings, burger, and pickle chips I shared with friends. I just expected more. Especially considering the price point.
They do have an extensive selection of craft Colorado brews on tap, and that is also something I appreciate. The service is attentive and I do dig the novelty of a floating bar almost two miles above sea level.
My main issues come down to price and the stools they have. I found the stools at the table to be very uncomfortable to sit on for long periods of time. Which is important when your watching a full game.
And the prices are just way too high. $28 for 14 wings. $22 for Mac n cheese (with meat). $19 for my burger. Yes it's Breck, yes it's a tourist town, but I think those pieces are steep even for Breck.
Anyways, it's okay for what it is but it wasn't the hangout I was hoping...
