My husband and I had very high expectations for our wedding weekend and I am happy to share that Common House exceeded them across the board. Everything about our three events came together seamlessly, largely due to the hospitality and hard work of everyone at Common House.
Our wedding weekend started with rehearsal dinner and welcome drinks on Friday. The rehearsal dinner on Friday was beautifully set and the food was phenomenal. We selected the family style option, which I highly recommend. The format makes the meal more interactive and it lets individuals take as much as they would like. There was more than enough food and the Common House staff was highly attentive to making sure everyone had what they needed. I forgot to inform Common House of two allergies before the rehearsal dinner and they accommodated both requests in real time (and both guests loved what they were served!). The welcome drinks took place in the Garden and the setting could not have been more perfect. Common House set up the fire pit and put out space heaters, and arranged the space in a way that worked perfectly for our ~100 guests on Friday evening.
On Saturday, our cocktail hour took place in the Garden before our ~130 guests headed upstairs to Ruby Hall for dinner and dancing. The reception was incredible because everything was taken care of, from the space set up to the drinks to the food. My husband and I cared a lot about having no lines at the bar, and Common House made sure to keep the bar moving quickly and having wine passed during Cocktail Hour. The food at our reception was also family style, which our guests loved. Everyone who came to the wedding commented on how good the food was. While we expected the food to be fantastic because we had eaten at the Common House restaurant, we were really pleased that the quality was just as high when served for 130 guests. Ruby Hall was an incredible space for dancing - we had a nine-piece band on the stage and we could not have had a better time dancing with our friends and family.
Our wedding weekend wrapped up with a brunch in the Garden on Sunday. The space set up and the food on Sunday was just as excellent as it had been on Friday and Saturday. The garden looked beautiful and the Common House staff made sure everything went smoothly.
Overall, we could not believe how much fun we had at our wedding. Thanks to the team at Common House, we felt cared for and we rest assured knowing every detail was in place to make it a huge success. We love Common House and cannot wait to celebrate more occasions in the...
Read moreI joined thinking it would be a sanctuary. It’s not. It’s a tired, neo-country club parked next to a chicken processing plant — an olfactory assault that should disqualify the luxury prices.
Still, I tried to make the most of it. I overlooked the worn-out facilities and the questionable poolside hygiene. But last week was it.
While sitting poolside, I ordered a chicken sandwich. A risky move, given the ever-present stench of death wafting over from the plant. My hunger won. It was my mistake.
While waiting nearly an hour for my food, the smell intensified — sour and unmistakably biological. The heat increased as did the middle-aged blonde manager's patrol of the pool like a suburban mother. The tension in my chest climbed. I was in college again, coming home to my hovering mom. I tried to distract myself. I shouldn’t have.
When the sandwich finally arrived, I was sweating. I ate fast. The taste — rubbery, pungent — mixed with the smell of rotting poultry. The hovering woman kept circling. I kept chewing. I wanted this to be okay. It wasn't. The image of gasping animals, of carcasses with dirty feathers, took hold in my mind. It was too late.
The wind picked up. I gagged. I stood. I projectile vomited the sandwich onto the pool deck. Cue screams. The poolside elite scrambled, clutching their faded luxury towels, now splattered with my regret.
I was devastated. As I sat in the bathroom, mascara and vomit running down my face, it hit me. We are all animals.
Me. The suffocating chickens. The sunburned snobs. The surveillance mom hawking around the pool. All part of the same grotesque system. Animals, just getting our needs met, no matter whose bodies we have to smell, step over, mother, or chew up.
I learned all this the hard way. I won’t be...
Read moreMy bestie and I had a staycation at common house over the weekend and we had an incredible time! The staff greeted us with genuine hospitality and encouraged us to utilize all the amenities upon arrival. I’m not sure why people have had trouble with parking in other reviews, they provide a parking pass and we had no trouble finding a spot. The design here is beyond carefully crafted as well as functional with every detail in mind. Especially loved all the conversation zones. They offer a range of ideal amenities from a saltwater pool & a steam room to a whole co working floor, fitness center, and outdoor terrace that reminds me of sitting in a serene spot in Europe. The showers & body products they provide were very spa like. We enjoyed playing pool by the bar while enjoying some late night refreshers followed by a late night swim. We took so many photos here because everything was just so dreamy to be surrounded by! The beds were comfortable and sound machine helped us sleep soundly. Also loved that the rooms had a Roku smart tv , water and a little box of cookies (our late night snack) provided by the hotel. Only room for improvement I can note is a full length mirror and mini fridge in the room. Can’t wait for our next stay. Highly considering a membership now since my family just moved to the area. Love that it offers so many opportunities for both travel or day to day living enhancements....
