I stopped by here around 1:45pm on New Year’s Day 2025 for my final meal, ending an 8 day vacation in the city. It was pretty busy inside. There was only 1 person at the register and 2 people in the kitchen. They did have another person passing out ordering, both dine in and pick up orders. I stood in line for a while but eventually just placed an order online at 1:52pm for a double bbq bacon smashburger with smash fries. The estimated ready time was 2:06pm. The seating was close together which made inside crowded. My order was ready at 2:04pm. The food was fresh and very delicious. The fries gave truffle fries vibes but without the Parmesan. It was very filling for me. I was craving a burger and it my craving was satisfied. Other than me wishing there was more space between the tables, I have no major complaints. I will add that the burgers and fries were separate. It seems that the lack of combos is a common thing. I paid about $18 for the double burger and fries. I will add the person who was passing out the orders, wasn’t the friendliest. She wasn’t directly rude but there was a little attitude/being curt. That would be an area of improvement. From what i witnessed, the guy at the register was friendly and helpful.

I wish I could give zero stars! Absolutely not worth a penny. Ugh! The food, service, staff, and atmosphere—everything was terrible. It was my first time in Chicago, and I was excited to try their smash burgers after seeing the store. But from the very beginning, things went downhill. The girl taking my order was incredibly rude and had a horrible attitude. Then she had the nerve to ask for a tip—even before I got any service! Why would I tip for being treated poorly? I ordered for dine-in, but they handed me my food in a bag like it was takeout. When I told them it wasn’t a to-go order, they just shrugged and said, “Oh, okay.” No apology, nothing. The burger was cold, smelled awful, and the inside was still red and uncooked. Just thinking about it makes my stomach turn. I still tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, so I went to the counter to grab a fork to at least eat the mushrooms off the burger. That’s when the manager—a big guy with a terrible attitude—yelled at me, saying, “Miss, the napkins are on the table!” I was just like, “Chill out! I’m grabbing a fork!” That was my experience. Save your money and go somewhere else—it’s definitely not worth it.

The service was of course excellent being I visited on the first day, though I am sure the great service will continue well into the future. The food was pretty good, I got the Double Classic Smash Burger and a regular fries. The burger was good, the fries well they where not to my taste though for fries I am a bit different, so I don't hold that against them, I just found them too crisp, but that is just me I would think. Obviously being the first day of operation I cannot judge a location with all places a least a couple visits are needed just to get a feel for the place. It however feels like a place that may be worthy of future visits, and I may update this with those visits, Additional note as it was the first day of service I received a "goody bag" which contained the bag itself which was of the tote style, an aluminum coffee style mug, sun glasses and a container of their burger spices. Out the four I will most likely use two.

They sent 4 Cobb Salads (egg was FRIED) and 1 House Salad.

I called them and the lady whom I spoke with was nasty. rude and refused to replace the Salads

I reached back out to ezcater told them what happened and I wanted 50% taken off.

I paid the Delivery Driver (he was great) and the Delivery Fee, but they will not receive that full total.

And, if we are charged, I am going to have the auditors dispute the charge.

I am going to give them bad reviews everywhere.

Now, I'm mad at myself because I didn't take pictures of the food.

I forgot to mention the cookies...

I would've gave this place an easy 5 stars across the board. Unfortunately it fell short in some parts! Don't get me wrong, if I had to choose Shake Shack or Five Guys....I would actually go for Smashburger! The flavor was awesome and the bun was like the icing on a good cake! It was just the service was really a let down. It wasn't too busy, but maybe I didn't realize they had a lot of online orders or something. It was my first time trying this place out and after I ordered it took almost 30-40 mins to get one double patty burger. I think it was close to closing time or something, but the cashier started cleaning up near us and ultimately made us feel like the table we was near couldn't be used and pushed them back as if we needed to move. Even after seeing us sit/stand there for that long...she didn't even acknowledge the fact we were waiting for a long time and offer assistance in getting a time stamp on when the order will be ready. So, the wife and I just waited patiently, but that experience would probably not make me want to come back and eat there again. Like I said the burger and wings was really good and the fries were "MID" as the new kids on the block will say. If they offered a Smashburger location on the East Coast I might give that location...
