Well, I love and when I say I LOVE this place J. Alexander’s has been my favorite restaurant for a very very long time. So, for the last few times I have visited this place, I have had some hits and a lot more misses. I consider myself to be a regular patron of this establishment. I came there this time to celebrate one of my best friends birthday January 8th around 1pm and man oh man was I disappointed! First the waitress didn’t look as if she wanted to be there and when she came to take our order she didn’t seem to know any of the specials or the menu. She had to keep going to ask someone else to give us the answers that she should have known. It took a very long time to get our drinks-we came at a NOT so busy time and it was only 3 of us there. Then the item that I did order did not say in the description on the specials card that it was spicy. Before we got our food the salads came out but wait I didn’t order one-and I was confused-she seemed as if she was confused and said go ahead and keep it. I knew I didn’t order the salad because I don’t eat tomatoes, but I obliged. When our food came, I took one bite and it was not tasty at all. I could not taste the actual Salmon-it was like someone covered the Salmon with Cayenne Pepper! It was supposed to be blackened but it was not. It took her awhile to come check on us as she had 2 other tables that seemed to be more of priority for her. When she finally came over to check on us I was explaining what was wrong with my food and before I could finished explaining to her, she was already walking away and didn’t hear all I was saying. She came back and asked if I would like something else I said sure and I would like to order the Lasagna but could they make it to go? She said yes. When I got my order to go she said that it was taken care of. I appreciate that it was comped but the rudeness and the lack of attention to us was not acceptable. I am starting to dislike coming here. I keep saying how this is my go to place but as of recently I want to go somewhere else and make it my go to spot....
Read moreDecent to good food, Pleasant and nice server, clean establishment (restrooms included). A bit overcrowded for dinner dining (Saturday afternoon). 6' distancing not practiced by staff nor patrons. Limited menu. Full service bar with lots of spirits to choose from. I recommend the IPA on tap! Single, couples, small groups and large groups friendly. I personally would not recommend small children dining here. I had the salmon dinner. It was little more done than I would like it to be. Ordered a side of Bearnaise sauce to moisten my salmon. It is prepared homemade and was light, fluffy and delicious. It definitely complimented and saved the salmon. Salmon and a potato dinner... $28, bearnaise sauce was additional cost. For that price I expected a bigger salmon (not overdone and dry)with at least two side dishes. Prices are a little steep. Quality of food was mediocre to good, depending on what you order. Was with a Christmas dinner party. They enjoyed the steaks immensely and their sides looked much better than mine. I'll definitely order the steak next time! The manager came to our table toward the end of our dinners. She started off friendly then closed with us having 10 minutes to leave due to another party needing our table. We were shocked and unhappy about this "forced to leave" by managment. She didnt disclose this prior to us being seated, why? Overall, with the friendly server, atmosphere and the company I was with, made my dining experience delightful regardless of my dry salmon and rude & unprofessional manager demands. Nonetheless, I do recommend this...
Read moreLast Saturday 5/3 we were in Columbus and we decided to go to J Alexanders for lunch. We were 4 adults and 3 children. We arrived there in a steady rain, at about 11:45 and there were only 2 tables with customers. We asked to be seated and they said that they do not seat parties of 7. My husband offered to split up and pay 2 separate checks but the manager, Ashley Norris, told us it was a company policy and as we came in as 7 we could not split up. She was rude and dismissive. I live in Fort Lauderdale FL and eat at least once a week at my local J Alexanders where we have been customers for over 25 years and are treated so well by the management and the wait staff. We have taken this same family group to this location many times and been treated well. The food is excellent. We were asked to leave in a pouring rain storm with 3 children and went across the parking lot to BJ's Brewhouse where we were treated well and the food was great. Our children ate well and behaved perfectly. I would highly recommend BJ's Brewhouse to anyone with children going to eat in the Easton area. Great service and great children's menu. We have also been to the J. Alexander's in Worthington with our family group and been treated well several times. I would hope that the corporate team would review the policy and conduct of the manager at this...
