I dislike when people jump on reviews and just bash a company or restaurant. Before we get to the negative, lets start out with the positives. Customer service? Fantastic. Great server, great staff. Very professional. Atmosphere? Great! This was my first time here (We live in Michigan, but I visit often because of my job) and decided to check this place out. Food menu selection? Also great. They offer quite a bit. Steaks? Mouth watering good. My wife loved her steak, my sons loved it, my daughters loved it, it really is THAT GOOD. My wife allowed me to try a bite of hers and it was REALLY good. Not many places can pull off a great steak. But this place? They have mastered the steak. So what was my issue? The chicken =(
I order the Chicken Panne. Now, lets be clear. Admittingly, I ordered what I THOUGHT would be the chicken, Penne. (Penne vs Panne) So admittingly, that was entirely my fault. When the dish arrived, I’m thinking “Where are the noodles?!” I then quickly realized, it was my fault, and I ordered the wrong dish. But I wasn’t going to send it back because it was entirely my fault. I ordered it, and they gave me exactly what I ordered. I am a chicken lover when it comes to food and different dishes, and so I settled for the now delivered chicken panne. In the Army (I’m an Army vet, who served in the Army as a chef and attended culinary school in Virginia) I’ve had to cook this dish many times before. You wouldn’t think so, but chicken panne can be hard to create. The fine balance between breadcrumb while not loosing flavor or moisture in the chicken can almost be an art of itself. Unlike the chicken penne, (grilled, and usually you have sauces to help you) you can really dry out this particular dish if you let it get away from you. And sadly, that is what happened in this dish. The chicken was very dry, no flavor and was just bland. Bluntly, it tasted like it was heated in a microwave. (That’s not to be rude, just being honest in the description)
Trying to salvage this thing, I ordered BBQ sauce. (Which added to the funniness of it all) because the server was perplexed when I asked for BBQ and stated “I don’t think we have it.” I kind of laughed in my head, because he would be right, for them to not have BBQ on hand. If you look at the menu, I don’t see anything on there that would require BBQ as an ingredient. HOWEVER, they did find some in the kitchen and brought it to me. (I was surprised) I used the BBQ sauce, to basically choke down this chicken, LOL…. It was rough. Again, very dry, kind of on the tough side, as though it was reheated. I know 100% that’s not how they cooked it, but that it how it tasted after it was plated.
Would I eat here again? Sure. But maybe not the chicken. Stick to the steak =)
Good try though! Again, it’s a hard balance when making this dish. But I wasn’t impressed. (I’m sorry) I left a little bitter. A nearly $300 bill for my family and I, and I left still hungry and not completely satisfied =/ Horrible feeling. The way to a mans heart is his stomach they say. There was much left to be desired….
I’ll end on a good note. The mac n cheese? WONDERFUL. Probably the best I’ve had. There are a million different ways to make mac n cheese, and when I tried theirs, it was quite the treat. I’ve never tasted it like that before. My compliments to the chef. Mac n cheese is “simple,” but you have taken the “simple” and really brought out a good consistency and flavor. Bravo.

Read moreWe had an amazing experience at Cut132! Everyone was very helpful and friendly from the time we walked onto the sidewalk and valet kindly pointed us to the front doors.
The restrooms are located near the entrance through a set of doors.
The decor is very elegant and nice. We sat at a table with chairs and the chairs are super comfortable. Next time I would like to try a booth where we can sit side by side. But still was a wonderful experience.
We started with the meatballs and caesar salad. The meatballs were really good with great flavor but were just warm, not really hot and a little dry so maybe we will try the calamari next time. 😉
They serve really soft warm bread with soft butter. So good!!!!
I ordered the porterhouse steak medium well and let me tell you! BEST STEAK I’ve ever had hands down! It was cooked to perfection with a nice char on the outside but so juicy and tender on the inside. I ordered mine medium-well, it was perfect. It had very little fat BUT MAN that fat holds sooo much yummy flavor with the gristle and all!
My Husband got the filet and he said it was the best steak he has had in a long time! They do offer some sauces and have quite a few options. You know it’s a good steak though when you both eat the whole thing without any sauces needed. 😊-We didn’t even use the sauces provided lol
Their sides are sharable so we shared a side of Potato Au Gratin and I could’ve eaten the whole thing to myself! 🤣 I am wanting to try the mac n cheese and roasted cauliflower next time!
My Husband got a smoked bourbon and it come out in a bottle filled with the smoke and our server had each of us smell it and then showed us the engraving of the ice with 132 (which we thought was neat). Very cool experience.
There were a lot of yummy desserts on that dessert menu but I was so full!
There was a lemon creme brûlée (I personally like a vanilla creme brûlée. Maybe that could be added to the future menu!?🤣)
The apple dessert looked to be pretty tasty seeing one in the kitchen on the way out 🤤
All in all it was a very great experience. Our waitress Sherry J. was amazing and always refilling our drinks and asking if we needed more bread. She cleared our table as soon as we were finished with each dish. Very attentive, professional, very nice and personable.
Sherry was very knowledgeable on every item on the menu and explained things well. Thanks for this wonderful experience! 6 days open and already killing it! We will be...
Read moreWe may attempt to give this location another try after a few months & will update the rating if we decide to. For now, it was not impressive to us as a couple & absolutely not worth the cost. We enjoy our higher end meals around town at many locations from The Refectory to Martini to South Village Grille. This was not that quality even if billed as such. We chose this as our 7th anniversary dinner date, which is fully on us if disliked but as the 2nd highest dining ticket for 2 we've ever had @ over $400 including tip, we're disappointed to say the least.
Drinks: Smoked Old Fashioned, Vanilla Rye Manhattan & Yoga School Dropout were good. They were probably the high point along with the steak & wait staff.
Starters: Oysters & Tuna Tartar. Prep on the Oysters left way too much flake causing every single serving to leave tons of shell in mouth. The sauces were inconsistent or flatly poor to accentuate this. The tartar presentation was great, the taste was bland.
Main (Good): We did the tomahawk, Au Poivre & Oscar Style (Lump crab & Béarnaise sauce). Not fair to compare it to it's price (which is high). As a medium-rare, it came out more on the rare end, which I was hoping for. Good blend of seasoning on the sear & tasted great. Side dish was the honeyed brussel sprouts, which were very good. It was a surprise to see them come out as shredded though.
Main (Bad): The Oscar style was not good, at all. The trio of sauces (Peppercorn Sauce, Horseradish Cream Sauce & Chimichurri) were terrible with zero taste. Especially the horseradish was a disappointment.
Our Tomahawk was $135. Likewise, every steak cut on the menu is on the high tier end price. None of them come with a single included side, which is absurd.
The service from those waiting on us was fantastic & have only positive things to say there. Lexis was a highlight. The venue looks great.
It has great potential but is nowhere close to being where it should be. 2nd highest ticket, worst experience. We will likely find an excuse to go to a different restaurant in a few weeks & treat it as our anniversary dinner date,...
