Peohe's — Restaurant in Coronado

Confusion was the special of the day. Gorgeous patio, but it seems very difficult to get a seat on it, even though it's empty.

In more detail, Beautiful patio with awesome view, for a sunny afternoon break. Loved the look of the place and location, & was excited to get a drinks and some appetizers. But, boy did it turn out to be tough to get seated and served.

Pretty disappointed, after waiting for a table, when 95% of tables were empty. Hostess said 15 to 20 minutes for patio, at 4PM Sunday. We said fine and sat down in lobby. After 20, checked with the hostess who asked what name we checked in under. I said we just talked to you and never checked in on your tablet... so this time we gave name and cell number, and I asked if we could wait on the patio for a text. So we proceeded to have a couple rounds of drinks on the patio, after an hour with no text (and no service), I flagged down a man who was moving furniture around. He may have been a manager, as he got on his radio and got us inside quickly, which was great, as it was getting cold and Debi needed a heater or get inside. Once inside, it seemed like they were not staffed for having customers this early. Only 4 or 5 tables inside occupied, but one super busy waitress (Lorilee or Loretta? She was good but swamped). She tried to cover everything, but she really needed help. She was constantly apologizing to tables for slow drinks, slow food, no dinner rolls, no waters, and mistakes on bills. I thought it they were just caught with low staff and a rush on a warm day, but she said they are always busy Sunday. ??? Confused... Why have a have a full lobby waiting, and empty restaurant and patio? Other confusing things; Where's the entrance to the patio? Lol, we like so many couples walked the board walk infront by the water, only to double back lol. A sign would be nice, or something on the patio with some information. We asked customers on the deck and they said they're just sat down and were self-serving from the bar (no patio service). We said we wanted food, so they recommended we walk around to the parking lot side and go inside. Other area for improvement IMHO, there's a restaurant information station(?) outside, but only a teaser partial menu, with no prices. Note says to go inside for full menu... Really, come on... OK, I like the patio, let's go see if we can get mugged. I suggest, if you can, please add a full menu and an arrow to the entrance at this station. We saw others wandering around lost too once we were seated. PS, Even the full menu didn't have prices for beer. It was 8.22 I think for a bottle of Modelo, no draft. Not bad, paying for the view. Same as the $51 for a pasta dish. Prices are little higher than they should be, but it is a nice view. The keylime pie was good too. Anyway, this is way too long, and I hate writing reviews, lazy, but I think this place could be so much more. If you don't want 4PM visits, put up a sign that there's no food service or something, or no patio service. I would rather you have the patio served on the warm afternoons, with maybe a limited menu or a Happy Hour. There were so many people nearby you may be able to attract. Wouldn't take much, likely an entrance you can find and a little patio music would fill you up. Other small area for improvement is the ceiling tiles could be on the list to review/replace. They were stained and broken, and not up to the level of the rest of the building's interior. Again, just seemed like something was off, too many barriers to get seated and spending money in my opinion. Such a great location to mess up capitalizing on. Best wishes for a great summer,

Seriously, forget whatever star rating you might have seen elsewhere - this place is a solid, no-doubt-about-it FIVE STARS, and here's why.

We rolled in for Mother's Day brunch, ready to celebrate and soak up some of that famous Coronado charm. From the second we walked in, the vibe was just right. You're right there on the water, with this absolutely drop-dead gorgeous panorama of the San Diego skyline spread out before you. It's like dining inside a postcard.

Our rockstar waitress, Anna, made the whole experience even better. She was seriously the best - super attentive without being pushy, answered all our random questions with a smile, and just had this really easygoing, nice way about her that made us feel totally comfortable and welcome. Big shoutout to Anna for being awesome!

Now, let's talk about the food. We kicked things off with the Pupu platter, and whoa, what a way to start! It was like a delicious greatest hits of appetizers: perfectly crispy coconut crunchy shrimp, a refreshing shrimp cocktail, a vibrant tuna poke stack, tasty Thai chicken spring rolls, and a totally legit lobster California roll. Sharing that was a fantastic idea because we got to try a little bit of everything, and it was all delicious.

For the main event, everyone went their own delicious way. My wife snagged the Sundried Tomato and Artichoke Omelet, which was packed with good stuff - roasted bell peppers, melty jack cheese, and finished with a bright basil pesto. My son, the classic guy he is, went for the Traditional Eggs Benedict with that perfect combo of Thomas' English muffin, Canadian bacon, poached eggs, and rich hollandaise. I decided to mix it up with the Peohe's Benedict, which swaps the bacon for smoked salmon, and let me tell you, that smoky salmon with the poached eggs and hollandaise on a Thomas' English muffin was a game changer. Every single bite of our main courses was spot on. Even though we were pretty stuffed, we couldn't resist sharing the French Toast for dessert. And thank goodness we didn't skip it! It wasn't just any French toast; it was loaded with fresh mixed berries and banana, drizzled with a dreamy Frangelico butter sauce, and sprinkled with crunchy macadamia nuts. It was the perfect sweet ending to an amazing meal.

Beyond the incredible food and service, that view, though! Eating delicious food while gazing out at the sparkling San Diego skyline and the bay activity is just something else. It adds this whole extra layer of magic to the dining experience. Honestly, after such a fantastic visit, I'm scratching my head wondering why Peohe's isn't universally rated at the top. Our Mother's Day brunch was easily a five-star experience from start to finish. The food was incredible, the service (thanks, Anna!) was top-notch, and the view is simply unbeatable.
