Anthracite Spirits Company Tasting Lounge — Restaurant in Crested Butte

We stumbled across this cozy distillery just down the street from Secret Stash. Katie, the owner, charmed us with the story of their homegrown beginnings and really took the time to explain the drinks and make recommendations based on our preferences. The drinks are unique with an obvious attention to detail, from fresh dill to wildflower garnish. All the spirits are made in house! Katie’s smile was infectious and she was beyond genuine and sweet. We stopped in after dinner at Anthracite, and had an absolutely wonderful time. Katie the owner was behind the bar, and also Carson, who has designed some of the cocktails on their menu. We sampled a few (hooray for free Crested Butte shuttles!), and loved them all. Ended up taking home a couple of bottles (gin and creme de cacao) because they were so good we just had to.

Even on a Saturday evening we had no trouble getting a seat at the bar and even managed to monopolize some of Katie's time. I'm sure Anthracite will get discovered soon, so I treasure these early days with a new place.

This team is doing great things in Crested Butte! I just got home from my road trip that included a stop there, and made my first Negroni with their Red Lady. So much better than Campari.
