If you're searching for an outdoor patio in downtown Denver where you can indulge in modern cocktails and tantalizing tapas from the grill, look no further than The Terrace at Room for Milly. With its delightful ambiance and menu, this gem is sure to please. The Terrace menu is available Fridays & Saturdays from 2pm - 7pm for guests dining on the patio.
We arrived at Room for Milly and were seated outside on The Terrace. The Terrace was framed by verdant plants, flowers, and charming green umbrellas. Our server Alec was awesome; he was attentive and had great recommendations on both food & cocktails.
From The Terrace’s grill we had the Kebab Plate made with Caribbean Shrimp, Lamb Kofta, & Guajillo Jackfruit served atop Quinoa Salad made with Compressed Cucumber, Pickled Red Pepper, and Toasted Almonds. Each skewer was grilled to perfection offering a delightful combination of flavors and textures that satisfied our taste buds. My favorite were the juicy Caribbean Shrimp.
Due to some rain, we enjoyed some time inside Room for Milly as well. The interior was wistful and evocative. Feminine art pieces, a soft pastel color palette, and an art deco-inspired bar created an atmosphere that was both inviting & sophisticated.
For Cocktails I started with The SS City of Paris made with Vodka, Grapefruit, Rosewater, and Sparkling Rosé. Youthfully adventurous, bright, & clear-eyed with a hint of mischief - this cocktail was floral on the nose with a refreshingly crisp taste.
Jaclyn had the Delta Royale made with Blanco Tequila, Blanc Vermouth, Lime, Giffard Fraise de Bois, Chareau, & Lavender. Determined and full-throated with a scarf snapping taut - this cocktail was strawberry pink & inspired.
Ally had the Mont Paral Cava. A delicate pale rosé with fine persistent bubbles.
For Bites we had the Whipped Feta & Crudité made with Tomato Confit, Olive Tapenade, & Seasonal Vegetables. This dish showcased thick whipped feta complemented by a medley of vegetables. The vibrant colors and fresh flavors of this dish were perfect for sharing and savoring alongside...
Read moreIf there's a 10 star option this cocktail bar will get that from me! The ambience alone I would kill for. Someone once told me that this spot makes them feel classy. No doubt it does that. It also makes you want to explore more. The so called "bites" are so good looking and so well presented and add delicious to that and the trifecta that you've been looking for in a cocktail bar is definitely here. You found it!
First time for me I admired their nooks. To me nooks gives you some feeling of privacy and intimacy. An invisible wall if you may. About five of those nooks. So romantic! Their cocktails are amazing! No doubt. But their bites? Chef Sean is the king. He's not afraid to present an escargot clearly visible. Very few people like the lowly snail. Even if imported from France. But done properly and definitely not covered in spices. It's the best experience ever! Pls if you visit RFM embrace the snail. Like you've heard anything that's exotic compared to the chicken in taste? Well think of it that way. You won't regret it. I promise you that! But this is not the chicken you know.
My second visit what stood out for me was the Melon Salad. Amazing taste. Ridiculous bright colors. It's almost as if the sun itself was served to me on a plate. It's spicy, it's sweet and all the other fantastic taste in my mouth. I was hooked. I want to take the chef home with me. ( relax n get your mind off the gutter)foodie to foodie kind of conversation with him. In person.
Drop in. Make a reservation. Whatever you do. Visit then now. Especially CO is back to a 100% seating capacity. Meaning the bar can accommodate more. ;) woohoo! There's outside seating as well as on the side which is probably choose cos it looks cuter!
So, peruse my photos n make sure you extend your admiration to the Chef who one day ill get to meet...
Read moreI gave Room for Milly 3 stars because the drinks we did get to order were very tasty and the decor was nice. I would have given less stars based on the service and music. We were only able to get 1 drink in before we had to leave for dinner because it took about 15-20 minutes to get a server to even notice us. Then it took 15 minutes or so for our drinks. Meanwhile the server got one of our friends’ drink order wrong and it then took 20-25 mins for him to get the correct drink. We didn’t make a fuss about it but the server didn’t offer any discount or free drink, she just gave us more popcorn, which I get. It could be out of her control to make up for the mistake. Then it took forever to pay the bill. It was a Saturday night so I’m surprised they weren’t prepared to keep up (read a few reviews now and it sounds like a consistent/not just a one time occurrence).
The music also did not fit the vibe expressed in the website description of the place nor the decor plus the fact that it’s a cocktail lounge, not a club or a “bar bar.” It was a weird, inconsistent, clashing mix of random pop and sad punk-like music. The type of music I would expect to hear at a cocktail lounge is for example: the Gotan Project, Thievery Corporation, chill electronic music, etc. The music was also way too loud, again for a cocktail lounge. I couldn’t hear what my friends were saying and they were right next to me. It’s a cocktail spot! The whole point is to enjoy cocktails and have interesting conversations.
We will definitely return to give it one more try, since the drinks were so good but I sure do hope we have a better service and...
