READ THIS BEFORE RENTING FROM BLUEGROUND.
I’ve rented five times with Blueground and extended multiple times within those leases.
My situation: I went through an 18 month divorce in which my spouse wouldn’t allow access to personal property or furniture. I needed a month-to-month option that was fully furnished and offered a turnkey living solution. For the most part, Blueground met those needs.
Here’s my review:
I was paying $5500 a month for an apartment in which Blueground was paying $2800 a month to the building owner. I received several eviction, notices pointed to Blueground and was able to see the exact bill that Blueground was neglecting to pay. It was worrisome to pay Blueground in full and have eviction notices left on your door regularly.
That $2700 profit that Blueground is making pays for their inexpensive rental furniture (from Cort Furniture Rental or similar). In the good-better-best category, blueground ops for the cheapest furniture package. Towels, sheets, plates, cookware were all well below average. In two of my units I found the mattresses to be high-end, very comfortable hotel style mattresses. In the other units, the mattresses felt like a 4 x 8 sheet of plywood. Low quality, used mattresses which sleeping on the floor was more comfortable.
Blueground uses the ZenDesk software to manage their tickets and escalations which is helpful and easy to follow, however most of their client experience team Are hard to understand and don’t emphasize or sympathize with any situation, you may present. On several occasions, I would hear roosters crowing in the background while you were on the call. The agents seemed distracted by other activities going on in their lives as they were trying to hear your issue. I guess it’s hard to sympathize or empathize with somebody’s comments or concerns when you have a crying baby on your lap. Rarely would any of the issues that you brought to Blueground’s attention would be resolved. Escalating an issue is nearly impossible and not for the faint at heart.
Summary: Blueground is a good option if you’re visiting a city for one month. They provide disposable furniture, disposable linens, disposable kitchenware, etc. and the convenience of having a turnkey living solution works for some. If you were staying in Blueground properties any longer than one month, this lack of quality gets old quickly. The lack of resolution to issues is also a problem, but I guess you can endure anything for 30 days. If you’re planning on staying longer I would look for a different option. Blueground is very expensive for what you get. They are an expensive version of Airbnb or VRBO and they require you to stay a minimum of four weeks. If you like the convenience of having a turnkey solution, and don’t mind paying extra, Blueground might be for you. Otherwise, there are better services with higher quality amenities...
Read moreWe've been in the Boulder Blueground for over a month now. If you need a short term place, it gets the job done but I wouldn't call the facilities or service excellent. Parking wasn't available upon check in and took about a week to have that resolved. We were provided an address that is incorrect - so packages were returned to sender. The app still has the wrong address listed despite repeated feedback. The people here in Boulder are nice but security is an issue (doors ajar by contractors, police involvement due to "massive" (building staff quote) package theft, garage security has been broken since move in) and the building has not aged well (power has been out a few times, elevators broken for a week, etc). The flat itself - despite the awkward kitchen - is good. Excellent bed, great sheets, some of the furniture is worn but no serious complaints about the...
Read moreMy place rented from Blueground was in horrible condition when I checked in. I notified the Blueground team and they said they would get it resolved but here I am over a week later with no resolution and each time I try to contact them they are unavailable. I am currently living in a place that was supposed to be ready when I moved in and wasn’t. The place was dirty, walls covered in marks, and extra furniture. Blueground doesn’t stand by their “high” quality standards and also the motto “show up start living” isn’t possible when you are in a place that is a mess. They also severely up charge for parking compared to what the buildings charge. Highly recommend using AirBnB instead...
