I've been fairly satisfied visiting/eating at gazpacho's. The food is decent but I highly recommend them getting better salsa recipes.
On our third visit. We were sat in the back near the fireplace and kiosk. There was a young man standing at the servers kiosk not two feet from the table facing us the entire time, listening to our conversation. That in itself was annoying enough!
On that day I was having lunch with a person who has learning disabilities and they were short 19¢ to pay their bill. I laid my card on the table along with their 20.00 in cash. When the waitress came by to collect our money I told her I wasn't ready to pay just yet and (I'd) have to run out to get the remaining 19¢ out of my car. I just carry my card in my pocket/wallet and didn't have change in it this time around. The waitress said..." Okay, but one of you will have to stay. I had a dine and dash yesterday." I don't want that to happen again.
I was furious!!!! I have never been so offended in my life!!!! I'm not now or ever been a thief!!! I do not appreciate being accused of being a possible "dine and dash." Even if someone was a dine and dash that young man would have been fixated on them the whole time.
I made it very clear that I would be the only one going out to the car. The money and card were placed on the table in plain sight.
I politely spoke to the manager on duty about the hovering young man and the accusations and he kindly apologized. The waitress eventually apologized as well but that was too little too late!
Needless to say....we will not...
Read moreI've been a regular at Gazpacho's for a year and a half and in the past have recommended it to many people but after my last experience, I doubt I will go back again. I had dinner there with my elderly mother a couple days ago and we both got very sick afterwards. I called the restaurant and spoke to the manager who gaslighted me that it was the hot green chili, as if I don't know what it's like to be sick from food borne bacteria. Having lived in multiple African countries, believe me, I know what food borne illness feels like. The manager was clearly not listening and was passing this off as our sensitive stomachs so I then shared that the sopapillas they had served us were like cardboard. I was concerned that their food sits around all day. He tried to "reassure" me I guess by telling me that when the restaurant is slow, that happens but that they are still "shelf stable." But if that is your standard, to serve cardboard to your customers, that says something and gives a good reason to worry. I will also add that although this used to be the best margarita in town, the one I had there last time had that unmistakable after-taste or cheap tequila. What a shame. All so disappointing but especially to be written off like that by the manager gives me pause about...
Read moreI'm gonna contradict many of the negative reviews. My experience was pretty good and I'd go back. There was a minor hiccup when the server forgot she had put us out back, where we had requested, and sat for an uncomfortable long time until we went in and found her and reminded her of our presence. She quickly apologized and made up for it with perfect service the remainder of the evening. The food was good but not spectacular. Avocado fries are a cool idea and were definitely not bad but needed a little pizzazz of some kind. Still, I love it when restaurants try something new so kudos to them for that. I had the green chili burger and was full and satisfied and thought it tasted really good. No restaurant is perfect and I don't expect them to be. I judge them based on how they handle their inevitable slipups and whether the food and service was appropriate to the money spent and the experience they delivered. In this case they were and I'd go back. Don't let the negative reviews scare you, and be the kind of restaurant patron that understands restaurants aren't perfect but isn't afraid to respectfully point out their mistakes and work with them with understanding and patience to make it right. What's so...
