My first time here. Going on a pretty good vibe. Microdosed some mushrooms and picked up a pint of crown. Walked around downtown for a few hours looking for a solid brunch location to feed the gluttony. I’ve eaten most places downtown, I’ve always wanted to try brails, but never made it happen. That is until today. I imposed , an F-it and “yes man” sort of self assurance today and told myself I’m going to walk brails and give a try. Worst case scenario I just go to old nicks if brails isn’t for me. Greeted at the moment of entry and seated right away, they wait staff, who by the way were nothing less than amazing, handed me a menu and asked me about my drinks. Little did they know I looked up their menu before arriving. I gave her my order and as disappointed to find out they do not serve bourbon or beer. Alas, the moment was saved by a crisp, cold, fresh, Pepsi. Which I might mention the cashier gave me an additional refill for wondering at my timely but dignified exodus. Finally, we have arrived at my long, mushroom influenced ramblings. The eggs, perfectly cooked Hash browns, astronomical The sausage links, astonishing The biscuit, to die for The service, fit for the royal court and nothing less The atmosphere, divine and pleasant. Almost fun. Definitely a place you and some friends should meet up after a long night. Or if you’re just out for an afternoon stroll and you feel the rumbling of hunger that can only be satisfied by such a...
Read moreI don't know how I can begin to quantify how much this place means to me.
I used to eat here back when it was Keystone Cafe when my family would visit and while busy with school/work/life/deaths/moving an hour out of town, I hadn't had family visit for many years and just never really had time or a reason to go myself.
I eventually moved back to Eugene and after driving by and seeing it had changed to Brails, I was a little apprehensive at first (out of shallow nostalgic expectations admittedly). I had only seen the other Brails location, but never been inside.
My littlest brother just graduated with an engineering degree and came to visit via train and since Brails is right by the train station, I had just the excuse to check this place out and after that I just keep going back regardless of whether or not I have company.
Stepping through that door makes me feel at home every single time. The Brails omelette with chicken and bacon is my favorite breakfast food and the hash browns are perfect golden crispy every time.
My coffee is usually made by whom appears to be the owner, with the same care and compassion expressed with foam art as is clearly resonated throughout everything about this restaurant.
Brails will always be in my heart and I hope they are there...
Read moreI usually love coming to Brails. Can't say enough about the wonderful menu and service. My husband has several favorites from the drink menu and we both love most of the food items we have tried, and there is a lot to choose from. I would normally give this place more stars but was disappointed today. On this day I decided to take a chance and try something I've never had before: Chicken & Waffle. The waffle was good, though I am not a fan or expert about waffles. The chicken, however was utterly awful. No good restaurant should embarrass themselves and short change their customers by using such poor quality meat. I say that if you can't serve a dish with truly good ingredients, then don't serve it at all. This menu item should be removed entirely. I can't imagine that very many people order it anyway, but even so, it is a very sad decision on the part of management to allow something this bad to appear on the menu. Doesn't speak well of the business model in general. We will be back, for sure, but I will tell everyone I know not to order the chicken & waffle because they may be sorry IF they know good quality chicken and are accustomed to eating it. There are so many other good things to order from...
