Absolutely disappointed, been going here for 15 years. I haven’t gone in the past year and things have changed drastically. Was there last Thursday. Only about five or six things come around ! The filet mignon did not taste like filet mignon, lots of chicken lots of sausage, never saw the salmon never saw the fried cheese, saw the ribs , and other meats. The place has great atmosphere and decor , the girls at the front desk , not too bright !
The most disappointing part was the salad bar! This was fantastic years ago we had nicely sliced grilled zucchini nicely, sliced grilled eggplant. There was no blue cheese like they used to be at the salad bar not crumbled or creamy style. We asked the manager for some and he said they didn’t carry it anymore. Yet an employee found some for us. There use to be beautiful endive wedge with blue cheese and walnuts on top. There was blue cheese, there was sliced mozz. It was incredible. Not anymore we won’t be going back. Now they have the little mozz balls ! The slices grilled eggplant and zucchini is now all chopped up into little pieces. I didn’t see any chopped zucchini. I may have missed it , the wedge of endive with blue cheese and walnuts, no longer exist, now it’s all chopped up and so is the endive , so is the hearts of palm , chopped pieces. But they brought on a new product called pickles little gherkins how exciting, The barrel Parmesan was so far back in the salad bar with the shortest tongs to get a piece.. And I have long arms. It was almost impossible. Whoever made these management decisions, ruined the restaurant, very disappointed, lots of rice and beans though. . I’m sorry it’s no longer the best steakhouse in Fort Lauderdale, it used to be. ! Glass of wine house cab or Merlot $16? Really the cheesecake had no flavor. The chocolate cake was OK. The lamb chops were delicious so at this point the other steakhouse next to Moxie’s, Fogo de Chão is much better than going there the past year and a half. ! Food cost is important to make a restaurant survive. I get that, I was in the business so I know what I’m talking about. I’m retired now, but they’ve taken this too far. Maybe the new customers don’t see it but the old customers do and the old customers are usually the foundation of a business that stay intact. Our servers were on spot ! Excellent. Good luck, Chima...
Read moreWe went to Chima for a special night out on my last day in Fort Lauderdale. It turned out to be one of the most memorable events of my trip to Florida. I was impressed as soon as we entered the enclosed courtyard and saw the huge lit up tree and saw people enjoying their evening in the outdoor seating area. The live music and view of the kitchen through the large glass window added to the great ambience. Once inside, I noticed a wine cellar with glass walls, which allowed a peek at the extensive wine collection. We were welcomed by two beautiful hostesses who I could swear were twins. Our table for two was in a great spot, enabling a view of the buffet that I could barely wait to sample, and my anticipation was well rewarded. Every item was well displayed, always full, and the selection was all top-notch high-end with nothing left to be desired. I tried a bit of everything and went back for a bit more of my favourites. There were so many servers, and they were dressed in Brazilian outfits. They come to your table and present various meat and seafood offerings in a steady procession. The waiters carve as much as you desire, and the selection was seemingly endless. Everything was so perfectly prepared, and the flavours were out of this world. I just can't express how happy I was with our visit at Chima. I enjoyed everything from the valet parking to the beautiful decor, the fantastic service, and wonderfully prepared and tasty food. The whole evening was such an enjoyable experience. I look forward to visiting again, and I hope that our server John is still here when I do. I highly recommend Chima to anyone who wants to have a special night out. BTW, imho, this is a perfect place to take that someone special for a...
Read moreI usually have a fantastic time at Chima. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with beauty—the stunning tree adorned with lights creates a warm and elegant ambiance. Everything about the restaurant exudes sophistication. The service inside is exceptional, and the food is absolutely outstanding. Fresh salads, perfectly cooked meats, and a grilled cheese with honey that I can’t stop thinking about—it’s all unforgettable. The garçons are not only attentive and kind but also quite easy on the eyes, making the dining experience even more enjoyable.
However, my experience on Valentine’s Day left me a bit disappointed, particularly with the bar service. The bartender stationed outside (a white male with light brown hair) was unnecessarily rude when I simply asked for directions to the bar. He dismissively told me there was no happy hour because it was Valentine’s Day, as if I wasn’t aware. He acted like a gatekeeper. Fortunately, I had called earlier to confirm that happy hour was indeed available.
Once at the bar, the service didn’t match the warmth and attentiveness I’ve come to expect from the waitstaff—Angel, in particular, always stands out for his excellent service. That said, a later shift bartender from Bogotá, Colombia, with impeccable skin, truly made a difference. Despite the busy atmosphere, he was friendly, welcoming, and professional, which helped turn the experience around.
Overall, Chima remains one of my favorite spots, but I hope the bar service improves to match the exceptional...
