If you can imagine watching a black and white Pee Wee Herman movie on a tube TV, that's how awful this place is. Just to give you an idea, I'm 29 and married. But unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) I wasn't allowed in because my "ID had been tampered with."
When the "bouncer" said that to me. I honestly thought it was a joke. But no, this guy was serious. Now about this guy, "the bouncer." .... Let me tell you, when Ron White talks about bouncers in his stand up routine, I'm pretty sure he's talking about this exact guy working the door. Short, stubby, sleeves partially rolled up, White-Rain spiked hair and has a textbook case of little-man syndrome. If Jesse James had a chubby third cousin, this guy would be his bastard child. But all that aside, he had been knighted as the man in charge at the door, and come hell or high water, he was going to make sure everyone knew that. He, in his surely well educated doorman opinion, decided my ID had been tampered with, and nothing was going to change that.
There was a police officer seated a few feet from the door. I asked if we could let the officer take a look at it to verify its authenticity, but that still wasn't good enough. "This is a private establishment and he doesn't have a say in the matter." Not kidding, that's exactly what King Asshat said to me. I asked if we could get the manager to get a second opinion. He said "sure!" I thought "ok, we're finally making some progress here." One of the folks in our group, who had went in directly ahead of me, walked up to the manager at the bar and asked if he would be willing to assist. But nope, "that's why I pay him to work the door, to deal with that kind of stuff." Seriously, you can't make this stuff up.
So at the end of it all, our group just went somewhere else and had some good ole Texas fun. And as I can only assume, this guy went on home to his niece's boyriend's sister's house to study for...
Read moreThe Library Bar was one of my favorite places to go downtown - cheap drinks, chill atmosphere, pool - so imagine my surprise when on a WEDNESDAY night, I’m handed a $161 tab on 11 drinks. Instead of the bartender even apologizing for not telling me he was overcharging me $14/drink, he instead tried to tell me that there’s not another place in the Fort Worth area that I can find a drink that’s cheaper. This is completely false - Landmark, Houston Bar, Bar 2909, & I could go on. PLUS, I can get drinks there cheaper on the weekends!! When my boyfriend began to rebuttal him, the bartender became power hungry & kicked him and my friend out as they were going to the patio. My friends & I specifically chose to spend our Wednesday night at The Library because of their cheap drinks. One of my friends had 3 doubles, a single, & an $8 quesadilla and was charged less than $30 - something doesn’t quite add up here. I was actually wanting to go to The Usual on Magnolia, but in an effort to save money, we came here instead. I could have had ACTUAL drinks and probably way less of them because they actually have alcohol in them and pay $14/drink. Those are cocktail prices - not the price for a double Jack & Coke, ESPECIALLY on a Wednesday night. For the fact that the bartenders were rude, overcharged and underpoured, & ended the night with a power play instead of talking to a regular customer, my friends & I will never visit again and we’ll make sure to inform everybody we know about the...

Overall, the Library turned an otherwise disappointing night into a memorable one. It's a gem of a bar that I can't wait to return to and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great night out with fantastic service and a wonderful atmosphere. I can't recommend enough if you are looking for a bar while in town.
Shout out to Mikey,...
