My family and I went to Ripley 5D Movie Theater in Gatlinburg, TN. What was supposed to be a fun family outing turned into the worst experience of my life. We looked online made sure it was handicap accessible and bought tickets in advance. We get there, try to go in and the ticket booth lady very rudely screamed “Don’t go in there, someone will be out to get him.” We waited and waited, watched the first group of people go in with at least 30 people who got there after us. We mention to another worker passing by about me being in a wheelchair and about the people going in before us, and he brushes it off and tells the entire party to wait inside and leave me by myself in my wheelchair while it’s raining. I have a hard time pushing myself after a little bit, and this time being one of those times I really needed help. I’m waiting next to the ticket booth for the worker that was going to pick me up, and the booth lady starts SCREAMING “Don’t block the entrance, move away from the entrance, don’t block the entrance.” I move forward and look at her confused and she says “Awwww, did they forget you?” I said “It’s okay”, and moved away from the doors. Which was completely in the rain at this point, so I’m sitting in the pouring rain waiting to get into the handicap entrance for over 20 minutes. No offer of an umbrella, sitting in the exit, taking me to the awning at the handicap entrance, i mean she didn’t even offer a garbage bag. A worker from Ripleys Haunted Attraction watched me sit and stare at the ground absolutely humiliated, and offered me a trash bag which was all she had. I have never in my life been so humiliated, degraded, and absolutely dehumanized. I sat in the pouring rain DRENCHED while this ticket booth lady watched and did nothing. I am one to not hold my tongue, but I didn’t say anything because all I could do was cry out of embarrassment. I get into the attraction, and they tell me I have to sit in a seat that doesn’t move. The entire reason I went was for that. Im 26 years old, recently in a wheelchair, being treated like a piece of garbage. I was so excited too, because it mimicks my favorite arcade game. I have seizures, so I can’t enjoy roller coasters anymore. Needless to say, it’s a shame they take the one thing I look forward too, and completely ruin it. I wasn’t treated as a human, and that interaction alone has traumatized me more than words can say. Ripley’s should be absolutely disgusted at the way a wheelchair user was treated at their...
Read moreI came here with my husband years ago while on an anniversary trip and absolutely loved the motion theater. It was my favorite thing we did. At that time it was an artic sled ride show. It was so much fun and had me screaming. I told my kids about it for years and finally came back for a weekend trip with my 8 year old. I couldn’t wait for her to see the motion theater and bought tickets days before our trip, excited. This time I was so disappointed. It was awful. The chair jerked me so hard that my body was sore and I was ready to get off. I was thinking, during, that I could never bring my older parents here. It would hurt them to do this. The first show was awful and cheap. The second show came and I really wanted to love it and said, “ok, here we go!” It was worse than the first. It was so cheaply done and the chairs are awful. My husband said the chair was killing his back. Suggestion? Put a little money into this place and bring back the artic show!! I put on a fake smile for my little girl, but I know she was thinking, “this is what you couldn’t wait for me to see?” So disappointed. Thankfully the Pirate Voyage show that we went to this evening delivered! It was awesome and she told me 20 times how much...
Read moreRediculous. People working here are rude n need a lesson in manors and the height requirement is a joke. I initially left a five star review but that changes today. We bought a season pass here and had been here SEVERAL times no problem but the last time here there was a girl and she refused to let my son in on the ride. I told her he had already been on it about 12 times and the 7d theatre across the street she then turned hateful and said she was not the 7d theatre across the street now was she. She then grabbed my four year old and put him under the bar, yes he was MAYBE an inch to short if that so i tried showing her pictures of him on the ride earlier that day..She the raised her voice to say i was wasting her time even though we were the only person in line. I was then called a b"""" and told to fu""""" leave while my two kids stood there listening to her. Thanks to this girl i will NEVER be back here n shame because i purchased a season pass n was planning on again next year. Its just rediculous that my son can ride a roller coaster and a river ride and scramblers at dollywood but he was refused to be able to watch a three...
