So, I had not been to this restaurant in a while, decided to go and give it another try. The last time we were there, it was pretty much the same as this time, not good. It started off with the lady that seated us. There were three of us, and we asked for a table. She walked us past several tables and sat us at a half table and half booth. I reminded her we asked for a table and asked if we could be seated st one of the tables we walked by. She mumbled something and sat us at the half booth table. The table right next to us had been used, and all of the peoples dished and left over food were still sitting on the table, and it stayed that way during our entire dining experience. I ordered the fried chicken. When my food came out, the chicken looked like it had been fried 3 days ago and left under the heat lamp and tasted the same but add in the taste of old dirty frying oil. Unordered a baked potato. Poor potato looked about the same, loke it had been overcooked the day before and reheated in the oven. The skin was all relied out, and leathery. The inside of the potatoes was very dry and hard at the skin point from it being overcooked. The only thing I was able to eat a few bites if was the salad I ordered after I picked several pieces of rust colored lettuce spine out of it. One of the people with me was able to eat part of their meal, which was a Ruben sandwich and French frys. The bother person ordered a plated dinner and had a similar experience to mine. Her food tasted old like it had been kept uncovered in the refrigerator for a couple of days and the smell of the refrigerator had gotten into it. Overall, it was not a good dining experience in any way. The only redeeming quality was the waitress we had seemed to care, but there was nothing she could do. We told her about our food, and she apologized and took two, with the exception of a couple of bites of food missing, plates back to the kitchen. She lt least took my plate of food off of the bill but did nothing for the second member of our party. She did, however, bring a box containing 4 muffins out to us for no charge and apologized for the food. It had been almost a year since the prior visit that pretty much went the same way, but we thought maybe over time they had improved, but obviously not. Maybe they have some other dishes that are not as bad, but I won't be going back...
Read moreWe went in for breakfast and ended up eating something totally different. There's so many items on the menu that it's versatile enough for the most picky eater. The atmosphere was very calming and there's a nice outside porch like area for dining during those not so hot moments in Arizona.
They do have a bar if you like to sip a lil bit with your food. The mimosa special is premixed however you can order the mimosa with a split which comes with a small bottle of champagne so you can pour your own poison but you also get more mimosas that way. The Irish cream and coffee was served with no sugar and adding sugar made it not so appealing but it did taste good.
We ordered the bake brie with a cran-apple relish and walnuts. The relish was great. The cheese not so much. By the time it arrived at our table it was cold and nonspreadable. We tried their 3 course meal for $25. It came with soup or salad, an entree, and dessert of your choice from the ones listed. He got the tomato bisque and I got the French onion. The tomato bisque was flavorful and thick. The French onion was also very good but I could have done without the bread that's served on top.
For our entree he chose the jambalaya and I chose the pot roast. The Jambalaya is not the traditional Louisiana style jambalaya you'd expect but it had a little bit of spice and good flavor. It was more like a stew served over a bed of rice or pasta if you choose. The pot roast was delicious. The meat was tender and carrots were soft but not mushy. I did ask if the mashed potatoes were real but I have my doubts after tasting them. None of the food needed more seasoning. The serving size was enough for two people.
We both ordered the molten lava cake a la mode. The cake was very bitter and it was served with only one scoop of ice cream which wasn't enough to offset the bitterness of the dark chocolate cake. They could have added some whip cream as well.
The service was mediocre and the server had a very dry personality. When trying to express my concerns she just replied, "I'll take it off" and walked away. She also seemed frustrated when I asked about the difference in mimosas cause their menu clearly says they don't come with a split.
Overall we had an enjoyable experience and will be back to try the other...
Read moreHave always enjoyed their food. Usually good food for the price. This time was no different!! Our server was a little less than good. He was fair. He said he was new so it could have been just lack of experience. He was courteous and our order was correct. He just forgot the extras. My aunt wanted extra onions on her salad and stressed 'extra extra onions' (yes..odd I know but it's how she likes it) there were no onions at all. We asked for more butter and took 3 times asking for it to be remembered. 2 people at our table of 4 had coffee. We had to ask for more. A good sever will check on drink status. My mother had water, asked for refill twice and never received her refill. I had soda pop and it was refilled once after having to ask. Our order took a bit longer ran average to come out and we were not check on once during our wait letting us know what was going on or to refill drinks, offer another bread basket, bring the butter that was requested or anything.... not even after serving the table right next to us. Like I said earlier, not a huge deal but not the normal service expected. We used a coupon and our server was gracious about accepting it and gave us time for my aunt to try to locate hers. She couldn't but he showed no sign of being put out by our extra time, which was nice. He made our coupon work for us by adding on a to-go soda pop, instead of just telling us we couldn't use it since my mother only drinks water. That was helpful. We asked for fresh coffee and he brewed it fresh. The wine was enjoyable. And we all shared dessert, the creme brule cheesecake. Oh my! That was out of this world! The chicken Mac and cheese was perfect. Not too rich, not over creamy, not dry. The chicken was tender, the bacon bits were not greasy or over cooked. Excellent. The turkey Apple sandwich was very tasty... the chicken crepes were decadent! The resturant was clean, the bathrooms were clean. Other than the drink refills and explanation of why our food was taking so long, this was a nice...
