Disappointing Experience at Doc Holliday's
We arrived at Doc Holliday's after a long day of driving, but were set for this to be our destination for dinner, we had heard about the great food and atmosphere and were excited to try it!
When we arrived it was getting close to 10 pm, we waited for an unreasonable amount of time before anyone even came to check on our table. When the server finally approached, the first thing they said was that the kitchen was closing in 10 minutes, so they could only serve fried food.
Disappointed, but still wanting to stick it out, we ordered chicken strips and fries, along with a side of onion rings. What we received was a plate of chicken strips and only five onion rings—no fries. When we asked about the fries, the response was vague, and they said they didn’t know what happened, but the kitchen was already closed. So, we got charged $16 for the strips and fries, despite the menu listing them at $12. The server then charged us only $3 for the five onion rings and said it “made up” for the overcharge on the chicken strips and fries. But this didn’t feel right, especially since we didn’t get the fries that were supposed to come with the meal.
It seems like they make up prices or offer substitutions when the kitchen is about to close. I understand kitchens need to wind down, but if the kitchen is supposed to close at 10 p.m., it should close at 10—not 15 minutes early. This experience left us feeling frustrated and ripped off.
Wouldn’t recommend if you’re looking for a consistent or fair dining experience. I've had better, friendlier service at the...
Read moreThis was the worst experience I’ve had at a bar in a long time. The place was not packed. We decided to get a table about 12 inches from the bar. It took a few minutes to get our drink order, but not too terrible. Being a bar, I just wanted a beer. I asked for a local beer that they have, and they’re out. Then I ask for a Dos Esquis, and they’re out. Then I ask what season beer they had, as advertised, and they’re out. I settled on a margarita. Unfortunately, after the two of us got our drink orders (whiskey coke and a margarita on the rocks), we didn’t hear from a bartender or server the rest of the time we stayed there. They never even came to our end of the bar again, and there was about 3-4 of them at any given time. After no service at all for almost 30 mins (we did want to order food and more drinks), we got up and went to ask for the check. I made it a point to mention we had no service at all in close to 30 mins, and there wasn’t even an apology or offer to discount the check or anything. Then after I gave my card to the bartender, she had it for several minutes, like she was trying to find something. She finally came back with my card and offered a small apology for how long it took with my card. But still not acknowledging the total lack of service we received. I think that an apology for the lack of service would have been the very least we could have received. Especially since the tables all around the bar were getting service except for...
Read moreFirst time at this place for Happy hour and the drinks were nice!! 👍☺️. Had a few dirty martinis and something to snack on. Food was good the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was at first a little uncomfortable because sadly as an black American your not always welcome in predominantly white astablishments and This place had the vibe of a old whites only saloon when you first enter.. but being who I am, I'm never afraid of some good ol racism. ☺️. So after sitting down at the bar, the bartenders were very nice and friendly and once my comfort zone kicked in my perception of the place got realigned and I started to feel more welcoming and the place seemed to be more of a bar full of history instead of saloonish if that's a thing. ☺️. The interior architecture seems to be of the late 17 or 1800s and they have lots of old artwork and artifacts hanging around. The coolest part about the place is they actually have a cash register that they use that's got to be from the early 1920s or 30s. Watching that thing work made me feel like I went back in time. ☺️.So I'm saying all of this to say...if your a person of visual judgement don't be discouraged by the first look.. go inside and give this place a shot you'll be surprised. Sadly my only concern was the men's bathroom.. need a little bit of a upgrade or TLC. But all in all really nice chill spots that takes you...
