Nothing but "ATTITUDE" from employees working Drive Thru window today. When I asked if my orders were understood to be Combo Meals, a different voice came through the intercom retraining me (their CUSTOMER) with an abrupt "You need to say you want a Combo!" This was said in a very defensive tone as if I had somehow crossed the line by trying to confirm that they had my order right. Then, when we arrived at the drive-thru window, no greeting or any other smidgeon of courtesy toward a paying customer who made their employment here a possibility was offered. The employee just opened the window and blurted out the price.... No "please".... No nothing. She shut the window in my face, processed my payment, opened the window, and shoved my card & receipt toward my face while staring at me with a sullen expression and, again, no words. Not even a "Thank you." When I asked her if she was having a bad day or something, she replied, "No, I'm having a good day today, " and shut the window in my face. When she brought us our shakes (which they didnt offer whipped cream or a cherry on when they originally took the order, the window opened, again, zero speech offered, shakes handed to us (no toppings on them), the sullen look, and the shut window. Finally, the window opened, a bag of food was shoved out the window toward me, a sarcastic sounding monotone "Have a nice day", and an ubruptly shut window. We are heading home to the Chicago metro area after a very pleasant time away from nasty behaving city folks. Everywhere we went on our trip, we were welcomed and treated politely and with respect as valued customers. But definitely not here. I dont know if the cause of this attitude we received was racially motivated, or if it is maybe just that time of the month for the staff working there that day. But, I DO know that we absolutely did not need to be treated to such outright, "in your face", unprovoked, and unjustifiable RUDENESS!!! We will always remember this extremely negative experience at Steak'n Shake, and we will definitely not EVER be back to this one because of it. Read moreThis was a HORRENDOUS visit. I understand being short-staffed, but the entire visit was ridiculous. The entire inside of the building was disgusting. You can tell it isn't cleaned often or properly. There were only 3 staff members but goodness half the work is taken away by the machines to order from. My sister bought 3 different milkshakes and NONE had anything but vanilla ice cream. I took them to the counter and showed the "manager" but was met with, "That looks like M&M." I assure you... there might have been 1/4th of an M&M in it. The cookie dough and Oreo had literally ONLY vanilla ice cream. There was a group of young adults that had put in an order before me that appeared to have stopped after a sports event they had and the staff refused to provide one of them with their meal. (I didn't find this out until we had left because my son notified me). 3 of the 5 meals we ordered were grilled cheese (my nieces had a dance performance and every other restaurant was busy so we went for quick meals). I didn't mind waiting because we got there around 30-40 minutes before they closed, which is apparently 10pm now not 11pm, so I was just happy to get the kids fed, but I'll never return. The shakes were corrected after I stood at the counter for 20 minutes in frustration and an employee stated "That was ridiculous," because I wanted the items my nieces ordered and sister paid for. The manager seemed high but was polite. I'm just shocked this business is even open anymore. We would have been better off to just do a drive through or quick sandwiches at home. Read moreWent there on a Monday night and received very poor service. Food has always been OK but they definitely Lack in their service and their customer service skills. My wife and I called our order in 30 minutes ahead. The order was ready but they did not include one of the two shakes we ordered. I told the lady at the cash register that we ordered 2 shakes and she said well they only charge you for 1 and she rang up a second shake and then proceeded to wait on other people there and I just stood there waiting on a shake that never came. A gentleman walked up to me about 5 minutes later and said have you been helped? I said seems like I've been more forgotten about. I explain to him I was waiting on a second shake and he went and had somebody get it for me. By that time my food was already just about cold as it was sitting on a counter in a sack and the 1 shake they did give me was already half melted and they did not offer to replace it. I do not know the lady's name at the cash register on this Monday night at 7:30 in the evening on June 17th. She was a blonde lady and she was rude enough for me that I will never ever go back to steak and shake again. The steak and shake in Greenfield has went downhill as of late and really no reason why. There are times we dined inside and they did not even have enough servers to get everyone seated and waited on. We have also went there and they were flat out closed.
