2.5 stars. This place is wildly overpriced and did not live up to the hype. I also experienced less than good service, and felt pressured by the waiter. A restaurant that cannot decide what it wants to be. The burgers were smaller than expected (half the size, think a McDonald's patty) and mine was overpowered by the toppings. The burgers were $10.99, fries were extra for $3.50, and the cheapest beer was $6.50 but most were $7-$8 apiece. All is significantly overpriced but the fries were pretty good. I had a much longer review, but Google timed out and deleted it, but I'll try to recreate it. I ordered one of their specialty burgers which had cream cheese, fried jalapenos, and a jalapeno jelly. I also added some bacon on top for $1 (definitely worth the add). Ultimately not a bad burger but it wasn't great either. I would recommend Cookout instead where you pay ~$8.50 for a double burger platter (about 1.5x the meat) which comes with a drink and two sides. The fries were smaller crinkle fries which were crunchy and pretty good. I'd recommend them, but they are a little pricey. The beer is too expensive despite supply chain issues and the typical downtown Greenville upcharge. I recommend going nextdoor to the Velo Fellow which has a much better atmosphere and beer that's $2-3 cheaper a piece. They also have pretty good bar food! The waiter we had was also very pushy and was neither helpful nor particularly polite. He may have been having a bad night or was overwhelmed by the crowd (lots of people very small space). He pushed us to order beer, and tried to get us to join some "brotherhood" where if you buy 100 different beers you get a leather jacket and may get some discounts at some restaurants. However the waiter couldn't name or explain any of the discounts so it seemed like a $750 cheap leather jacket. He also provided little to no clarity on the menu and pushed us to leave while we were still eating our fries. I could go on and may update this later but in essence the restaurant can't decide what it wants to be, a dive bar or a fancy burger joint. And uses overpriced meat (wagyu beef, or so the waiter claimed) unnecessarily as grinding wagyu beef makes it little to no different from USDA ground beef from the grocery store. It was also very loud, and very cramped with uncomfortable backless stools. I would not recommend this restaurant but it may just not be for me. Too gimmicky (divebar/fancy/wagyu). WAY overpriced and not good enough to justify it. May add more later visited 1/21/2023 written 1/22/2023, will add...
Read moreUpon my recent sojourn through the fair city of Greenville, I chanced upon an establishment known as Jack Brown’s Burger Joint, a humble yet lively house of victuals most suited for the modern common man. Though not adorned with the trappings of high society, it possesses a charm all its own, steeped in camaraderie and casual merriment.
The burgers, dear reader, are of notable merit—each patty possessing a flavour most robust, as though the very essence of fire and smoke had been lovingly sealed within. The combinations offered are as bold as they are delightful, with toppings of imaginative quality that both surprise and satisfy. Though not a feast fit for Her Majesty’s table, it is assuredly one that would stir the appetite of any hardworking gentleman or gentlewoman.
The atmosphere is that of a convivial public house: lively conversation, rustic furnishings, and the occasional peal of laughter rising above the clinking of mugs and the rustle of wrappers. One might not expect refinement here, but rather a genial comfort that encourages lingering and leisure.
In summation, I grant Jack Brown’s a most respectable four out of five stars. Though not without minor want—perhaps in the realm of service haste or diversity of fare—the experience is a commendable one, and I shall not hesitate to return when next I find myself in...

LOCATION Deep in the heart of the West end. I was hungry and at Artisphere and sought some nibbles and a sit down in a cool spot.
FOOD The burger was good - straight up G for tasted like it just came off the grill (but without all the work lol) I chose a plain burger 🍔 as that my litmus test but there are plenty of gourmet options and next time I'll go "hog" wild and throw some 🥓 cream cheese and onion straws on it (honestly I was just too famished). Their house sauce was really good and I put it on the burger and🍟. The sweet potato fries were solid BUT the pièce de résistance by far was the wicked little deep fried Oreos for $2 a pop (see mouth watering picture)
VALUE good value for downtown especially when the Gather was a mad mob
SERVICE Logan was sweet and took great care of us. She was friendly and I will definitely ask for her again. Bless her she was juggling multiple tables and never stopped smiling 😁
ATMOSPHERE Fun and festive bar vibe with memento dollar bills on the walls. You can definitely tell that good times are had there! Check out the hood of a vintage 72 Scout over the bar
RESTROOMS VERY clean restrooms!!!!!!!!! And yes this MATTERS to some of us ✨
PARKING Sorry I walked here, but it was located right on the main drag and just a few paces...
