This was my 2nd and last time visiting this location. I hate to be this person, but I feel like I was mistreated on both occasions because I was black. We were use to going to the location on Washington Street, but it recently closed. One night in January we were out on Southport and decided to stop and have dinner. When we walked in, there was a white family in front of us who the host was about to direct to their table. When the host returned, she asked the normal questions before seating us. Then as she grabbed the menus, another woman walks up and says the computers are down so they are cash only. My fiancé and I didn’t have cash so we left and went to the bank which was less than a mile away. When we returned, a white family was walking in at the same time as us. My fiancé held the door for them, so we walked in behind them. They walked up to the host and she asked the normal questions to them but didn’t mention anything about being cash only. I let it pass because I just assumed maybe the computers came back up, but I couldn’t shake the negative feeling I had about it. We had a cool experience after that, but I noticed most of the guest paying with cards and no one else was paying for cash. I also noticed that we were the only black people in the restaurant and told my fiancé my thoughts about it. He told me to just let it go, so I did. Fast forward to today, I saw on Facebook that they had deals on Family Meals with a free pie, so I decided to order it and pick it up when I got off work. I placed my order online at about 2:45pm and scheduled to do a curbside pick up at 6:15pm. I paid at the time of ordering and figured that would make my wait time shorter when I arrived. I arrived at about 6:20pm. There were 4 cars sitting there when I arrived. After the waitress outside gave someone their order, she asked me for my name. I told her and she said okay and went back in the building. The 4 cars before me of course got their food 1st, but as those cars left, new cars pulled up and did the same as I had done by giving their names to the waitress outside. A white lady who arrived after me got her meal before me. I didn’t think anything at 1st because I figured my meal was on its way out as well, but instead another white person who arrived after me got their food before me. This happened 4 times before I finally yelled out to the waitress that I still hadn’t got my food. She asked for my name and said I should be next. She went back in and came out with 2 additional meals before coming back to my window and trying to explain that they were busy from people ordering ahead. I told her that I too ordered ahead (4 hours ahead at that). She said she would go in and check for my order again. She tried to offer me a free pie, but I said I had already ordered one with my meal. She said she would just add some extra rolls to my bag when she brought it out. By this time it’s about 6:45pm and I am getting irritated. Another waitress comes out and gives another car with a white person that arrived after me their food. Then the same waitress I was talking to came out with once again another white person’s food. I said to myself, if my food did not come out by 6:55pm, I was going to demand my money back. They finally bring my meal out to me at 6:52pm. I have never ordered ahead from anywhere and waited this long to receive my order. I am beyond disappointed. I have never felt so out of place in my life. Race has never been an issue for me because I’m a nice, positive person, but I strongly feel that if I would have been white, I wouldn’t have been told cash only on my 1st visit and I would have received my food in a timely manner during my 2nd visit. This will definitely be my last visit to this location, and I’m honestly kind of hesitant to visit any other location at this point. I will be contacting the corporate office tomorrow and reporting...
Read moreI went to this place with my mother and son. We went in and had absolutely no wait. We were able to order and the food came fairly quickly. Everything in the restaurant was marked with traffic patterns as well as everything being socially distanced. The entire staff was wearing masks and was exceptionally careful and everything that they did to keep themselves safe as well as all of the people eating in the restaurant.
This was the first time I had ever been to an O'Charley's. I ordered a club sandwich which was pretty basic. I wasn't very impressed with the bread that came with it because it was not a lot of bread but it was the style of bread made it too much bread for the sandwich as well as a sandwich that is stacked like a club sandwich shouldn't have a bread that's hard to bite through or else you lose all your insides out the back. My son had some chicken nuggets or strips and some macaroni and cheese. The chicken strips were just average nothing special. The macaroni and cheese was extremely bland and didn't have much character to it at all. I can't say that this was a bad experience by any means cuz it really was a good experience. The food on the other hand was very bland boring and average at best. If I were to go back to an O'Charley's it would be for the staff more than for the food because even McDonald's seems to use more spices in their food than a O'Charley's does. I definitely wouldn't order from this place for carryout or delivery because it's just not impressive. But I would probably go back just for the staff because they are great and they're running that restaurant extremely well.
So that's why I gave this a three stars was mostly because of the food if I were going to give the staff a rating they would have got the full five stars because they really were amazing and went over and beyond for...
Read moreJust went today for lunch…4-3-22… restaurant was almost empty. The young hostess didn’t smile at anyone coming in. There was a family in front of us that wanted a particular waitress and their party was good sized. They opted out of being sat at the available table and decided to wait for the one they wanted. This sparked an eye roll from the hosts who turned her attention to us. She asked us to wait so she could clean a booth (even though there were several empty tables and booths). Nevertheless, we waited. She made a full trip around the restaurant before cleaning the booth. Maybe,….ocd or something? Who knows? We were greeted right away by our server, Sharon. We thought the hostess may have just been having a bad day at this point. She got our drink order out right away, took our order, and brought us rolls. We ordered a cheeseburger with fries and a salad. It took 30 minutes to get our food. The fries were lukewarm. The salad had wilted lettuce in it. We were going to order a to go meal but thought better of it. She never came to ask how our food was. We asked for mustard and had to ask again. At this point she had picked up a third table. And then, she disappeared. So we waited and waited for our check. I got up and approached another server who was standing at the waitress stand DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE TO GO BOXES and asked her for one of them and explained that we were ready to leave and didn’t know where our server was and she flipped the box impatiently behind her and said, “HERE”….. 😳… so apparently none of them wanted to be bothered with doing their jobs today. Not the O’Charley’s I worked for years ago when Jay and Dave were in charge. We never saw a manager while we were in there so the infamous “table touch” that O’Charley’s used to practice didn’t happen either. This place disappointed today and I...
