Steak 'n Shake — Restaurant in Indianapolis

Edit to add my most recent visit on Don’t know why I tried again. It was 9:40 on 4/28 Lights on inside, but red letters not lit up, nor drive through. I went to order and let them know the lights were out. It was kind of hard to see the menu. The gal was nice and asked if I would like her to turn them on, then someone else came over the speaker saying they closed in about 30 minutes anyway. RUDE. Left and spent my money somewhere else since they were obviously trying to look closed to close early. Final straw and I will not be back.

I love Steak ‘n Shake, but hate this location. The parking lot was not very full, nor inside busy. I was in the drive thru at 6:10. There was 2 cars at the window and then blank space with someone at the order board with 4 cars between me and the order board. The person at the order board sat there for about 8 minutes w/o getting their order taken even though there was plenty of room for the order to be taken and to move the car forward. Finally their order was taken and then the same scenario happened with room for a few cars after the order board to move forward. This time I timed it and it took 10 minutes to take the cars order. Then I called from my car and no one answered. Just ring ring ring. Called again and someone finally answered. I asked what was going on with the drive thru. They got the manager. Manger checked with drive through, advised me that they are not a fast food restaurant and are at a time of 10:40 for drive thru time. Well....that is pathetic. I’m sure that is the time from order placed to when the food is out the window. It is actually longer than the 10:40 because they are letting cars sit at the order board instead of moving them forward to keep their ‘times’ under a set point. I then left the line at 6:40, went to McDonald’s and got a cooked to order meal and saw the same car still sitting at the order board when I drove back by.

I will NEVER spend my money at this...

Horrible service. Been waiting an hour for our order and no one has been around to tell us why it's taking so long or to even refill our drinks. Had to go up to the window to ask how much longer it'll be and said they even haven't started it and it'll be a few more minutes and that was 10 minutes ago. This is the worst steal and shake location I've been to and I will never come back to this location. Rude employees and the worst service I've ever had. Need to teach their cooks how to make more than one order at a time. And being with a 2 year old toddler who's hungey and keeps asking for her food and crying because it's taking so long. This location is highly not recommended Update: got our food and the chili we ordered was microwavwe half of it was cold and half was hot, my daughtersd mini corns were burnt and when I told them to remake it the waitress rolled her wyes and huffed. My grandmother's burger was only half of a Patty and when I asked to speak with the manager she said she was too busy making food to stop and make it right and when I said fine werwe leaving thwn shwbsash okay bye. Seems to me the people there don't care about their guests at all.. this location needs to be retrained immediately. I even went as far as warn others coming in as I was leaving that there's over an hour wait to get burnt food and half of patties and they said okay and they left. WORSE LOCATION EVER HANDS DOWN. I've been to alot of steak and shakes and I've never ever had this...

My family and I were starving. We were looking for a new place to eat and decided to choose here. When we entered the building we were instantly treated with no service and an Antarctica like environment. It was so cold and the screens we ordered on probably had 156 diseases on them. When we finally finished ordering we were hoping to sit at a nice clean table. But when we looked for seating every table had trash, food, stains, and condiments on top the table. The booth and chairs also had an surreal amount of crumbs on it. When we asked to get something to clean these disgusting horrendous tables they mumbled some words and turned their back to us. So then we cleaned our own table with a napkin we grabbed next to the drinking fountain. When we got our cups we went to get drinks and ice. But when we tried to get ice there was no ice to be seen. We had to ask a worker for some ice because none was provided. The machine also seemed to be malfunctioning and the machine cut off pouring out drinks before our cup was even filled. We sat down and didn't have to wait long. The time to get out food was not bad. But when we were greeted with the food we relized they must have poured a gallon of grease on it. The food itself wasn't bad but overall my experience was probably the worst in my life. I would rather have not eaten and saved myself $61 then eat there. I would never even make my worst enemy eat here because it's so bad. Don't come here please you will be...
