Me and my two friends came to eat on the deck today after the train ride with our three 3 yr olds. Everyone was so kind. The host, our waitress, other customers & female manager. Everyone that walked by stopped to say how cute the kids were /or talk to them. Our server was wonderful. Attentive, friendly, and thanked us numerous times. Even made a comment “you are all great moms”. Shift change happened & a few new waitresses came on. Out of nowhere one older server stormed up to us and attacked us. Said our kids were disruptive. When we asked who are they disturbing, she responded “everyone”. We looked around the entire restaurant, & not one person seemed disturbed or even knew anything was a problem. She was so nasty and unprofessional. Then she proceeded to stand by the service station, right by our table, stare at us, and continue to talk about us like a little child to her other little minion that had just come into loud enough for us to hear every word. It was very uncomfortable. We had just spent $160 freaking dollars and were finishing our drinks!!!! Another older gentleman who seemed to be the manger also carried on with them and whispered about us as well, loud enough for us to hear but cowardly not saying a word to us. It was the most unprofessional encounter I have ever had at a restaurant. They should not be in the service industry. Our server apologized and we still tipped her over 20% because we all work in the restaurant industry, but it took everything in us not to walk out on the bill. Next time we are in Jim Thorpe, we will never be back and will never recommend. The server and manager should lose their job. Tip for the future: Learn how to talk to your customers if you are going to be in the service industry. Great experience that...
Read moreUnfortunately, I was never able to get a full experience with the place because they made me wait 1,5 hours, did not inform me that they took my name out of waiting list and offered me to wait another 45 minutes. We came to Jim Thorpe for a bike ride, finished our 25 miles and we’re very excited to have a meal after. The hostess promised us a table outside in 40 minutes since we’re a big group (of 9) and offered to seat inside while we’re waiting. So we did. After 40 minutes part of our group joined us, asked about the table outside and went inside to pick us up. And manager somehow decided that we don’t want a table outside anymore. Took our table away and offered us to wait another 45 minutes. So here we are. Already full party of 9 inside, ordering drinks and appetizers while waiting for outside table. And after another 40 minutes when I went outside to ask about the table they said: “you should not expect your table. We took you out of the list”. Second time. Without even informing us. And when I asked to talk to the owner, he haven’t even apologized for all the inconvenience and their “misunderstandings”. I understand that on weekends place is full of tourists and mostly it’s a one time visit, but still I would appreciate if they were more careful with my time. I could enjoy a nice walk in a beautiful town instead of seating inside the restaurant...
Read moreWe were a group of 4 and asked to be seated at a table instead of a booth. They wouldn't put us at one table because they said it was for 6. 2 people in our group were slightly larger and we would have been more comfortable. Instead they seated us in the back at a smaller table where we felt so squished in. We ordered our food, it did come out pretty fast however none of us liked any of our meals. One person ordered the fish and chips, another ordered the Reuben sandwich, the other ordered the steak (I can't remember exactly what it was) then I ordered the wild mushroom ravioli. My ravioli was obviously frozen. It was tasteless. The person who ordered the fish and chips ended up in the bathroom before we left. The friend who ordered the Reuben sandwich was thankful he made it home in time to hit the bathroom. Upon leaving we noticed the particular table that only 6 people could sit at had 4 people seated at. I kind of feel like because we had larger people they wanted us seated in the back. But maybe I'm wrong. Either way none of us plan on returning. I know someone in my party took pics of our meals and is also planning posting a review. In my opinion save your money and go elsewhere. It was very...
