Pizza Bar — Restaurant in Kansas City

The establishment gets 1 star for having good tasting pizza. The reason this establishment gets a 1 star overall, is due to the absurd treatment by the security staff. Me and my friends were eating a $40 pizza there to celebrate a birthday, and were finishing up and about to leave. A security guard came and informed us that everyone is to clean up and leave in 10 minutes, to which we agreed and understood. Not even 3 minutes later, we have 4 security guards come to the table to say we need to leave immediately and that we were told "5 times" to leave the establishment. When we started to ask why due to the disparity between the 10 minutes and an immediate leave, they stated that we would be "cuffed and arrested for trespassing". They made such a bold threat while letting the customers at the bar stay longer, and not force them out as they did to us. They did not allow us to have any word or sway over their sudden decision, and continued to emphasize our arrest and trespassing. This establishment has no justification for such behavior. This establishment must either retrain their security staff to ensure there information is accurate, and to improve their discourse with paying customers; or fire the personnel responsible for such toxic behavior. The pizza was great however the security service was very rude and extremely unprofessional. The way my husband and I were treated by the security personnel ruined our entire experience and took away from the great pizza we had at this establishment. It was 2:15am, mind you they close at 3am when I went to the restroom before we left. I told my husband I would meet him outside of the restroom when I was finished and we would head to our hotel. I could hear the security guard demand that my husband leave from where I was in the restroom, and my husband explaining that he was waiting for me to finish up. The security personnel did not care and continued to berate him for waiting for me. I came out in a panic, thinking that we would get the law called on us for staying too long and the security guard continued to yell and scream at us that we should have left when he told us the first time. To top the evening off, a person was shot and killed right outside the restaurant during a drive by shooting shortly before we left. Had we left a few minutes earlier it could have been us. This whole situation has left a terrible impression on not only the power and light district, but most importantly the pizza bar. We will never again return to this establishment and will encourage others to stay far...

I’ve never wrote a review before, but today was special. I ordered a piece of pizza and a margarita for my girlfriend and a water for myself. I paid and did not tip because I usually don’t unless I receive exceptional service for a single drink or I converse with the bartender. After finishing my water, I went back up for a refill and my bartender (a larger blonde lady with tattoos) avoided me after waiting in line. I had to try to get her attention. When she came over to me she said “thanks for the tip earlier” to which I responded “sorry” because I’m not used to bartenders expecting tips on a single item. She retorted with “are you though?” Then continued to fill my cup 1/4 full and handed it back to me. Absolute worse service I’ve ever received in my life. Atmosphere is good, but that particular bartender is what will drive people away from this place. Sad that my first review ever was because of the worst service...
