Texas Roadhouse used to be our go-to place no matter what town we were in. No matter the location, we could always expect the same great quality and service. Well, after our experience here last Saturday, I don’t think we’ll ever go to one again. I don’t know what’s going on with them but the last few times we’ve gone, the quality just isn’t there. Whether it’s over-cooked pork chops and steaks or baked potatoes that were warming in the oven too long, it seems like there is always something that isn’t done right. Still, with the good history we had with them, we thought to give them another chance. On Saturday night, it started off nice as our waitress, Hailey, greeted us and took our orders. My wife and I ordered the 16-ounce sirloin steaks with the sides. What came out to us were 2 rib-eye steaks. Now, I know there’s a lot of people that would prefer a rib-eye over a sirloin, but to me, there is just too much fat on them. We ordered sirloins, we should get sirloins. We hailed Hailey down and asked why we got the wrong steaks. She apologized and said the cooks must have misread the order. She had put down sirloins on order. She said she would replace mine and it would only take a few minutes. My wife said she would keep hers as she didn’t want it to go to waste. While waiting for my steak to come back, my wife found that she couldn’t eat the rib-eye as it had too much fat. Like me, she wanted a sirloin. That’s what we ordered. We flagged Hailey down again and told her my wife didn’t want the rib-eye. Again, Hailey apologized and asked my wife if she would like something else. Seeing how long it was taking for my steak to come out, she said not to bother, she lost her appetite. Hailey said they would discount it off the bill. Since my wife was done, I only ate part of my steak after finally receiving it 20 minutes later, (the steak was over-cooked and the potato tasted like the one they brought back with the steak since it was lukewarm and dried out) and we just decided to leave. Our bill came and we saw that rib-eye, not sirloin was on the order. Hailey had lied to us, saying the cooks misread the order. Additionally, $25 was taken off the bill. Not sure how they came up with that number, but maybe they thought $25 was more than a sirloin steak cost ($22.99) so there would be a little extra. However, a rib-eye (which was on the bill) costs $27.99, plus my wife also had the smothering of mushrooms for an additional $2.29. If you are going to comp someone for wrecking the meal, you should refund the meal which was incorrectly put on the bill, which came to $30.28, not $25. We got the manager over and told her what was going on with the bill. I also told her my meal was also screwed up and I had to wait a lot longer than expected to get it. We didn’t come in here and expect this to happen. It’s not like we got what we ordered and just didn’t like it. Also, if Hailey would had been honest about it and just admitted she made a mistake, we wouldn’t had been that upset, everyone makes mistakes and owning up to it goes a long way. But when you lie to us and blame someone else, well, that’s worse than getting the wrong meal. We told the manager about the waitress lying to us and she said she could only take off the $25 off the bill on my wife’s meal but then agreed to refund me $11 for screwing up my meal. Wait, if you screwed up the order and put a more expensive item on it than what we had ordered, why couldn’t you give a refund for that item? You screwed it up, not us. We were paying more for an item we didn’t order! At this point, we were done with this place and just wanted to get out of there so we paid the bill and left. It’s too bad. We were long time customers who really enjoyed and looked forward to eating a meal at Texas Roadhouse. But with the decline in quality and the dishonesty of the workers, we won’t be coming back. EDIT: I almost forgot. When we got our salads, my wife found a big ice cube in hers. I had a small one in mine that I had crunched on. Lucky it wasn't too big or I might have...
Read moreWe had a terrible experience at this restaurant, after waiting for exactly 1 hour and 51 minutes we got a text message saying that our table was ready, after we got seated the waitress came to our table and asked if we wanted anything to drink, we ordered some cocktails and soft drinks, the waitress told us that the kitchen was very busy, because of how busy they were she recommended us to place the order if we knew what we wanted to order, she also said that orders might take longer than normal, We placed the order, while waiting, people that were there when we got seated were leaving and other people were getting seated, we totally understood that they were very busy that probably that was the reason why our food was taking too long, but after seeing those people that came after us get served by other waiter and waitress that came after us getting their food before us and even finishing eating and us still waiting for our food, that’s when we started to get upset, after an hour with no food yet, a guy from their staff got close to us and he looked at our table, he turned around and went to get the manager, but the manager never approached us he went straight to our waitress and told her something, she looked at us and went to the kitchen direction, a few minutes passed so I decided to ask another waitress to call the manager, when the manager came to our table we told him the situation, he just apologized and asked us if we could wait a few more minutes for our food, we told him that we had waited enough and that we wanted to cancel the order, he just said that he was sorry and left, a few minutes later the waitress came to our table and brought a voucher for 2 free appetizer for the next visit, she told us that they were not going to charge us for the food that we canceled, but we had to pay for the drinks, I wished I have had recorded the waitress, she was just cheat chatting with her coworkers all that time, I hope that the restaurant have cameras to see all this and...
Read moreWe were given a little complementary basket with fresh dinner rolls from the oven and soft butter with a hint of something sweet. Cinnamon? Quite good. The appetizer, shrimps on a skewer were very good, seasoned with black pepper and parsley with garlic butter and a lemon wedge on the side. I ordered the 12-oz. New York strip, medium rare, with two sides (buttered corn and sweet potato). What was very nice was the waitress asked if I wanted mushrooms or onions on the steak. Naturally, I said both. On the sweet potato, she asked if I wanted brown sugar and marshmallows (yes!). The steak was juicy and flavorful. The mushrooms and onions were a very nice touch. Perfect. The sweet potato was a nice treat, almost like dessert. I ordered the red sangria to go with my meal. I am not a margarita fan to begin with due to not liking overly sweet things, but it was okay. The lime and orange wedges were a lovely touch, making the sweetness bearable. The waitress was very knowledgeable with the menu. If not, she went on a fact-finding mission, when my husband asked about the flavor of an item. She was very kind, personable, and attentive to our needs, despite the busyness of the hour. I am glad that my husband "reserved" us a seat on the site. When we checked in on the phone, it told us to wait in the car until our seats were ready. Then, we got a notification that it was ready. The wait wasn't too bad, and I was glad to wait in the car since it was pretty packed by the entrance, people waiting, people leaving. The host that seated us asked if we have been here before. It's been a couple years, and he said we were missing out. Indeed we were! The food was exceptional. We'll...
