Right off the bat, I'll admit that we didn't actually eat here so I can't really comment on the quality of the food or service, but the restaurant itself is nice enough. It's located in the Golden Nugget Hotel. I'm mainly rating this because my wife and I were really looking forward to a good sushi meal and expecting a large selection of nigiri and sushimi. Had to wait until Thursday as they aren't open most of the week. We went there ready for a great meal only to find that the sushi selection was extremely limited. We saw only salmon, yellowtail and tuna. We asked the chef about making nigiri or sashimi from those three (only two show up on the menu) and got a vague answer. The prices were pretty high too. We wound up going elsewhere for a meal. Later on, at prime time when almost all of the restaurants in the hotel were doing a brisk business, Red was literally empty with the wait staff and chefs just standing around. Got the feeling others found the same disappointment we did. Now maybe the food that they do serve is ok, it definitely wasn't what we were expecting from a classy resort restaurant. My wife and I have been eating sushi for many years and even the tiny Asian restaurant in little Athens, TN has a much better selection. Judging from the menu and lack of customers at prime time, I'd say this place may be on the chopping block soon if they don't make...
Read moreDined at Red last night, as we've long wanted to try it. We arrived just before closing time and they agreed to seat us, although sushi wouldn't be an option, which was no problem. Our server was very nice and was helpful with answering menu questions. I ordered Shoyu Ramen and while the broth was bright and fragrant with notes of ginger and lemongrass, the ginger pieces were huge. The porkbelly strips were tough, making it impossible to bite off small pieces. I'm a pro with chopsticks, but with there being no utensils, I was left with no choice but to use my fingers. NOT classy. My husband chose Beef & Broccoli which was a sad, grey pile of unseared meat (wok not hot?) And one, yes only one tiny piece of broccoli. There was no saucy glaze, but what tasted like nothing but copious amounts of soy sauce. It was a salt bomb! And for this, $72 with the beer and glass of wine. Perhaps they should have turned us away, stating it was too close to closing time to prepare a proper meal. We...
Read moreMy mother and I wanted to try the Red Asia, we were extremely disappointed. The shrimp Pad Thai had little flavor and very small shrimp. My mom didn’t want it. The waiter notified the manager by the name of Briana. She was very crude in saying “ well you already ate some shrimp out of it”.My mom tasted a shrimp to try her plate. Where did this woman get her management training. I’m thinking fast food, maybe Panda Express. We both love egg rolls, but we left 2 of the order of 4. They were mushy on the inside. We didn’t finish the California rolls, I had better samples in a grocery store. The Mongolian beef was very good. I want to give an honest review and the Mongolian beef was tasty. To put an ending to this very bad experience the manager had called security, like we were gonna make a mad dash on the bill. I think Briana needs a refresher on management training or possibly didn’t even have any. I thought maybe she would gather her precious leftover shrimp to recycle on the next...
