Ok so, I’d give 2.5 if I could. We went here a few days back for dinner as we got in late to Leavenworth and didn’t want to cook or eat fast food. The atmosphere is really nice and the waitresses are very kind. It has that old rustic log cabin feel with antler decorations, wood work and a fire place. Very welcoming. The booths were very clean and the seats weren’t broken down so you actually sat not sank. We ordered 2 meals, an appetizer and 2 drinks (drinks here are epic and strong! 10/10) from the bar. My first knock is the price. Just for those few things, the order was about $100.... Verrrrry expensive. Even by a tourist towns standards. And no we didn’t order T-bone steaks or anything like that. Now once we got our food, it looked amazing, the plating and presentation was awesome. Everything looked really good! Then we took a bite and found that everything was either canned or pre frozen meats. The green bean salad was canned as the green beans were super mushy as canned green beans get. The gravy is clearly canned. I see posts where they say it’s house gravy, but if it comes from a package or can and made there, it’s not house gravy. It needs to be made from drippings. This tasted like the TV dinner salisbury steak kind and the schnitzel was ground pork, it was not pounded as claimed and then deep fried instead. It was not a cutlet. We work with meat in our business and someone is clearly not being honest. The hamburger was supposed to be on a pretzel bun, this was a brioche bun glazed on top and toasted to look dark like pretzel 😅 we run a food business so it was fairly apparent. So either they don’t know someone’s sending them the wrong bread or they just ran out and tried to make due. Now I’m aware the cook/chef probably has his hands tied unless he’s the owner and you can only really serve what you got. But honestly, I feel that as restaurant on the main drive of a tourist town, with the prices that they have, more care should be put into the food. It’s clear there is still a respect for what is being presented as the plating was really nice, but I’d defiantly at least work on making a house gravy, make your own house chili and stop using Nalley, and finding a different side salad that isn’t green bean moosh. This place is quite attractive and the staff is wonderful. I hope that soon the food can reflect...
Read moreKudos to all the workers in the Kitchen, who clearly are the ones keeping this restaurant in business. Great omelettes, French Toast and Eggs with bacon. However, the two Caucasian middle aged waitresses who were there on the morning of Christmas Eve, when it wasn’t even that busy, were terrible and slightly racist to say the least. Both of them were standing at the bar, doing nothing when we came in. As we walked in one stared at us, didn’t greet us. Proceeded to just look at how another client took pictures of his kid by the Christmas decorations and kept ignoring us. We were still standing by the door. Ignored. Then she offered the lady taking the pics to take a pic of the whole family. I guess this waitress gets paid for that, and not to seat customers. We waited some more and then I asked if we could just sit anywhere. She mumbled something and then made a hand gesture as prompting us to go to the bar stools. We went there and kept waiting. The other waitress saw us and didn’t greet us either or asked any questions whatsoever. Finally she asked if we wanted to be seated and I said yes, and then asks : table for how many? As the 3 of us have been standing there for almost 15 minutes. At this point I motioned desperately : for 3 people please !!!! She said : geez I’m just trying to help you ! It’s almost like they know is one of the only places there to eat breakfast and they are so disgruntled to be working there on Christmas Eve with mostly clients from out of town. If you are ethnic or brown, and go there for Christmas vacation just know that these two people might still be working there and they are the most unpleasant; they will not make you feel welcome there. Again, kudos to the kitchen staff who sadly are the only good thing...
Read moreMe and my friends, all people of the same ethnicity came into this restaurant and were told we could not be seated together because we were a large party. This was fine until a larger party than ours (also a walk-in) was seated together right away. Our server was very rude to us and did not ask us our drinks or appetizers, and we had to tell her ourselves.
My friend order nachos and the rest of us ordered burgers, and the nachos came first. The nachos were store bought liquid cheese and store bought chips, and they were cold. We asked the server to warm them up and she brought them back cold and threw the plate on the table. An hour and a half passed since ordering our entrees, and the party that came after us got their appetizers and entrees by then, while we had only received our cold nachos. We looked around and saw that other tables received real nachos with real cheese, so we were wondering why only we received such poor quality food. At this point we were starving and going to be late to our other plans, so we told our server that we will pay for our drinks and nachos but we will not pay for the food we didn’t receive.
She started arguing with us and said that we couldn’t do that and told us to give us the method of payment. My friend was about to give her his card when he asked to see the receipt and she tried to charge us for all of the items, even the food that didn’t come out after 1.5 hours of waiting. She charged us a 20% gratuity because we were a party of more than 8 people, even though we were seated separately and did not receive any acceptable service. We made her take off the food we never received. The blatant racism from this restaurant is unacceptable and I do not recommend giving this place...
