The food's presentation is absolutely gorgeous, but the taste is surprisingly dull. Between the cookie, avocado toast, and cinnamon roll, the flavors were all bland or unbalanced.
While the woman working the counter was wonderful, the man has some areas of improvement. The woman was smiling and patient with every customer, even during the rush. The man leaned over the register, and his hoodie smeared all over our cinnamon roll; when my wife politely pointed this out, he admittedly apologized but gave her a dirty look. This is actually unsanitary and he could've at least offered us a new one -- since the smear was on one side of the cinnamon roll, and thus easy to eat around, we just let it slide. Then, however, the man was tasked with putting more plastic utensils out for the customers, and he proceeded to toss the forks in the slot, with a bunch spilling out. Geez, no wonder why you run out so quickly.
They have cute little jars of candy behind the counter, giving the impression that you're in a gingerbread house, which was a nice touch, but everything else about the atmosphere was quite minimal.
Ending on a positive note, they made a fantastic...
Read moreI hoped to find a factory full of gingerbread in this store. Sadly, Only 3 gingerbread cookies types were offered. Lots of other cookie this and ice cream that. But just 3 gingerbread cookies avail. I also expect the cashier to add properly. I dont appreciate unexpected expense added to my bill without telling me. The $2.62 "Living Wage" was not mentioned, yet was on my bill. . Excuse me? My bill was $92.79. (No drink was ordered either) I left a $5 tip in shameless tip jar by cash register. If I had known this store was going to slip a hidden charge in, I'd never have tipped in the first place. (Tipping for ringing up a cookie sale? What was I thinking anyway? If you're going to slip in 'living wage' charge anyway - then what's with the tip jar?) But sweet reward should be in the tasting of driving to Leavenworth for gingerbread, right? Well, gingerbread was, uh, fair. There are many other stores in Leavenworth more deserving of your dollar & tastebuds. FYI, be sure to examine your receipt BEFORE you drive many miles...
Read moreThis restaurant is nestled in the middle of the tourist district. The location is absolutely beautiful and could've easily been a village in the Bavarian region. While walking around the shops, we decided to stop in at the Gingerbread Factory and grab a bite to eat. The atmosphere is very welcoming and the aroma was delightful, like Christmas time.
They didn't offer much in the way of meals but what they did have was quite good. The staff were pleasant and the food arrived in a timely manner. I ordered the chicken asiago panini. It was tasty, although not what I expected. Topped with onions and sun-dried tomatoes with a pesto. The bread left something to be desired. They used some sort of bun in the panini press. Would've been perfect on a sourdough bread. My wife ordered the french onion roast beef with candied bacon. A little sweeter than I would've expected but otherwise good. I would definitely recommend giving them a try if your not sure what you're in...
