I Love Mexican food and I love Mariscos even more.
I’m not gonna lie I usually have mariscos when the hangover is real. I’ve been told and am a firm believer that this stuff along with a nice cold coca-cola helps with hangover.
This Sunday Funday consisted on finding some good shrimp cocktail and aguachile in or around Long Beach, and I think I nailed the spot. Located on a corner of a busy street on Long Beach Blvd you’ll find Mariscos Los Buchones. This restaurant is actually pretty big, once you walk in you’ll be blown away at how big it is. The inside of the restaurant looks very modern and redone, I was surprised.. the outside could have fooled me. If you drive around back they do have a few designated parking spots available at no cost.
Let’s get to the FOOD :) They immediately start you off with hot fresh chips and salsa. I’m not a fan of anything spicy, so if you aren’t either I highly suggest you try a small sample of that salsa because I found it to be spicy and not like mild (I’m a weak sauce and mild is my type). I ordered the pascado shrimp cocktail and it was outstanding. The cocktail was loaded with fresh shrimp and all the works, it came with a side of limes and crackers. Next I ordered the aguachile and that was another outstanding dish, it came with a side of tostadas. The table was already prepared with utensils, and all side condiments that were needed (tapatio, ketchup, salt, pepper, etc)
The staff was awesome! Immediately greeted and walked over to our seating area. The girls working the floor were very friendly and knowledgeable on the menu. They were very punctual on refills and checking to see if I needed anything more.
If you can’t tell I’m definitely going to be a returning customer and not just hungover on Sunday’s lol
If you’re in the area I would do yourself a favor and check this place out.

Read moreLos buchones has been around for 8 years, on the same corner of 7th and lb Blvd. It has gone under physical changes throughout its years, as well as ownership, quality if taste, and service. My recent experience was decent. There was no one dining in the restaurant so I was able to receive amazing service from the two servers who were working. They have a great space that I'm sure does well on the weekends in the evenings or even the afternoon. They have a small parking lot in the back, but it is small. The food was ok, I got the chicken nachos. My two other guests got the molcajete mixto with agua chiles, threw tacos de al pastor, and a Michelada. The molcajete was very delicious, fresh, made to order and the seasoning was on point. Very citrusy and had that kick you need to eat seafood. The tacos for a mariscos place were great! My chicken was unseasoned on the nachos, but it worked because the portion was huge also there were beans, guac, cheese, sour cream and a tasty red sauce that complimented the chicken. Their michelada was absolutely delicious, I definitely recommend getting one to try. You won't be disappointed, very good service, friendly staff and the food was good. I would come back to check them out in the late evening, they have TV's and loud music so I'm sure the vibes are...

Stopped by this place hoping it would be a good spot. The restaurant itself is spacious and looks clean. The parking situation is a bit tricky if you’re not familiar with the area (it took a few minutes to figure out there’s parking in the back).
The food is okay, but it did seem like reheated leftovers. Some of our dishes came with sides of “fresh” chopped cabbage and radish. The radish we got looked …. brown. My dish was supposed to be served with a side of fresh chopped onions… there was a hair in those onions. When I pointed this out to one of the waitresses she was displeased with me, she did not apologize, she did not ask if we would like an actual clean side of chopped onions, and she did not bring any to replace it.
Our actual waiter did apologize after finding this out which we did appreciate. However, bad food and bad customer service make for a...
