As a tourist (Queens, NY represent), I'm always on the prowl for the best eats in town. I'm not referring to over-hyped "Instagram-worthy" spots - I'm talking about mouth-watering hole-in-the-wall spots with slightly sticky checkered picnic tablecloth and an overwhelming amount of plastic utensils at the counter.
When a trusted food advisor described Aca Grill as a bomb Argentinian BBQ spot owned by Koreans (that's my people), I knew I had to give it a shot. I ordered 'Aca Plate No. 1', which comes with melt-in-your-mouth asado, smoky chorizo, perfectly crunchy pork belly, rice, salad, & beans. Basically everything perfect in this life. I need more.
What makes or breaks a dining experience for me is the hospitality. Knowing I was a first-timer (staring at the menu for 10+ minutes must've given off that vibe), the owner treated me like royalty. What do I mean by that? She made genuine conversation with me while packing me an empanada & cheese ball on the house - I consider this royalty. Jokes aside, I'm convinced she is the sweetest person on this planet. I'm all about supporting delicious small businesses that are intentional with building relationships with their community - that's what builds customer loyalty. When I'm back in LA, my first stop will not be In-N-Out dramatic pause - it'll be Aca Grill. There's also a 100% chance I'll be back tomorrow...
Read moreWhat a great experience at the Aca Grill. The restaurant is fairly small, and finding Argentinian BBQ in K-Town was surprising, however it was so delicious.
My friend and I both got the Aca Plate #1 with all three meats: chorizo, asada, pork belly with one empanadas each, one chicken and one beef. This was perfect for us because I got to steal some meat from my friend who couldn't finish it all.
For the people with big stomachs, I suggest Aca Plate #2.
My favorite was the Asada. The meat was very tender and it was delicious with the chimichuri (which was also very good). The amount of rice and beans was just perfect for me, and I want some more right now. I think next time I might just go all Asada, or Asada/Chorizo because the pork was a bit dry for me.
Another thing that hits the spot is their super spicy hot sauce that just made my mouth water thinking about it. Can you guys please sell this hot sauce in big bottles? I want to eat my burritos with this sauce! BOMB.
I am bringing my family here next time for sure. PLUS the ahjoomma here is very nice!...
Read moreOne word to describe this location.... argentine bbq mom and pop.....okay more than one word but those 4 words best describe this establishment. Mother, father, son run the place and prepare the food. A true definition of family run small business.
Asado(short ribs), Pork Belly, Chorizo your three choices of meat. They do offer seafood items but we are talking argentine bbq so stick with the meats. Overall I'd rate the food at four stars. Could the portions be a little bigger yes, but with today's meat prices I get it. Meat is flavorful and service is on point. I've been going to this establishment since they've opened and seen them grow, so that should tell you it must be decent since people keep coming back.
If you looking to try something different in ktown other than ayce or brazilian bbq, then give this place a try. Support your local businesses during...
