Itâs rare you see a cafe nail an opening this well. Jalsah hasnât been open a full month yet (at time of writing) but is absolutely sticking the landing. A very unique cafe based on its specialities alone, Jalsah has amazing coffee, tea and food options, most with a Yemeni spin or focus. The cafe has quickly become a hub for the local Arab community, in my two visits alone Iâve seen folks of all walks of life come in, but the food, coffee, ambient music and overall vibe has definitely seen it become a warm and comforting safe haven for the local crowd. There are plenty of tables, bench style seating, board games and books to borrow, space for folks working on laptops, even two outdoor tables. Itâs hard to find anything to fault them on. Only fault I can find is their food offerings not being listed on the menu or on the case in the front, but theyâve also been open for less than a month at time of writing, so I wholly think they get a pass on that.
I absolutely look forward to frequenting Jalsah, and recommending to anyone who is a coffee lover, and loves a good late night coffee spot (especially if they start staying open...
Read moreGET THE ROSE CAKE. If thatâs all you read then Iâve done my job, but in case youâre curious, hereâs a bit more on why I loved this little cafe.
First, theyâre open late! Iâm a night owl, so I enjoyed that they have a late closing time so I can keep burning the midnight oil. The staff member that was working was super friendly and helpful, and even tho he was the only person working, he greeted everyone that came in and reassured that he would be with them shortly.
It is a very family-friendly place and a nice hangout spot for catching up with people as well! Their baked goods are incredible and if I werenât leaving town tomorrow I wouldâve gotten one of each to go! Will definitely return on...
Read moreI stopped by Jalsah Yemeni Coffee in Los Angeles and was seriously impressed! I ordered a matcha latte and a slice of tres leches cake, and both were absolutely delicious. The matcha was smooth, perfectly balanced (not too sweet), and had a really comforting, earthy taste. As for the tres leches â wow. Moist, creamy, and just the right amount of sweetness. The atmosphere at Jalsah is cozy and welcoming, with a modern touch that still feels rooted in culture. Itâs the kind of place where you can chill with friends, read a book, study or just relax inside the cafe. Definitely coming back to explore more of their menu â especially their traditional Jalsah...
