For a place that considers itself a wine bar, it's quite difficult to comprehend as to why it's impossible to even taste one decent wine from their selection. Some tasted bland, others tasted 'funky' per the waiters' description of the wine, or 'even funkier'. We must've tasted over 6 different wines, and none of them were good, we even had to send a bottle back. Of all the restaurants and bars I've been to in Los Angeles (or elsewhere), I've never had such bad luck attempting to get a decent glass of wine. Do NOT go there for their wine until they revamp their entire wine selection. Period! Other negatives: Ambience is slightly lacking as they are still obviously in the process of adding tables and deco/art to the restaurant (there's an entire empty room as of now at the heart of the restaurant). Waiters should probably be trained further. And again, none of the wines we tasted were enjoyable. Positives: The food was great, we all relatively enjoyed all the dishes we ordered. The design of the restaurant is also top notch. I'm sorry for the harsh review, but they need to hear it and I really hope that they do so that they can improve upon these vital issues that in my opinion must be remedied quickly in order for this new wine bar /...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a review just for the retail bottle shop in the back. Iāve never experienced such straight up mean attitude from a wine shop. Iām visiting from the bay where our natural wine shops usually are labeled with retail price and you pay $10 corkage to drink on premise. Confused at extremely high prices on the bottle, I asked about the retail price to the girl that was working. She proceeds to respond āWell, they differ between each bottle obviouslyā I didnāt know that was supposed to be obvious and even if it was, why are you being rude about it? Any question I had thereafter, she clearly didnāt wanna answer. I felt so unwelcome and frankly angry by the time I left. And apparently a friend of mine had the exact same experience with the same girl that was working retail. So fair warning to those who are actually interested in learning about natural wine, go to Psychic Wines instead - this place clearly doesnāt care to foster a community, which is what natural...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was a great evening of dinning from beginning to end! Like many LA facades, this one seems unassuming from its exterior but as soon as you enter the black iron gated door and into the restaurant you are greeted by an ambiance so inviting! Thereās a bar/lounge off to the right (which I have to check out next time), adorned with intimate seating, plush couches, and a centralized bar in the space.
We sat outside on the patio and had such excellent service from Mandy! The wines were delicious (had the sparkling and chilled red), butter and bread to start as well as the caesar salad and tuna tartar. Then for our mains we enjoyed the rigatoni and the spring lasagna. Omg, wow!! It did not disappoint. The coursing was done to perfection and we were very pleased with everything!!
After dinner, my date went to the restroom and I had an impromptu conversation with the owner, Laurie, who was very personable. We will definitely be back...
