A nearly hidden jewel.
One time, some friends and I bumped into Bob Baffert leaving as we were coming in.
It's as good now as it was then, I've been a regular for a long time and it's been there a long time, which is hard to define without dating myself but I think the Baffert sighting (we had just come from the track with a track regular friend who noticed that it was Baffert and pointed him out to us; our friend thought it no big deal because he sees him at the track all the time but the rest of us talked about it excitedly the entire meal as if we had just seen the president - at the time, i.e. before 2000 - under the same circumstances) was around the time that there were Barenaked Ladies and we were Gettin' Jiggy Wit It. Maybe earlier by some years. You do the math. ;)
But that's gotta say something. The food is and has always been consistently great and I've never had a bad experience there in the years before or since. That's why I (we) keep...
Read moreLa traicion! Thank god Walgreens pharmacy was close by because I knew immediately after the first bite that both my stomach and culito were going to suffer. This is not a Mexican restaurant... it’s more of a Mexican’t-ina. It was confusing to me that they charge for salsa verde but the Pico de Gallo is free. Also, how can you claim to be authentic but you don’t sell horchata? It’s literally 4 ingredients... rice, water, sugar and cinnamon! The way you are served your food is confusing as well because your plate comes with strict instructions from their very own in house fireman wearing not 1 but 2 ovgloves. DO NOT TOUCH THE PLATE OF RICE AND BEANS unless you’d like to suffer from 3rd degree burns. Your tacos on the other hand will arrive at room temperature on what seems to be a chilled plate for reasons unbeknownst to anyone. In the words of Ozuna... Te bote...pal carajo te mande, as i walked out leaving 4 untouched tacos...

If you like beer, get the 32 oz Dos Equis Amber Dark. Want a margarita? This is the place to go. Plenty of drink options to enhance your dining experience.
Nachos are always warm and the salsa is freshly made and delicious.
I always get the Burrito Ranchero. It barely fits on the plate and is incredible!
My wife gets the spinach quessidillas and simply loves them. There are many other delicious vegetarian plates that she has also enjoyed.
We have rarely had room for dessert but their fried ice cream is outrageous.
The remodel looks great! Much brighter than before. The service and the food is still top notch. My favorite Mexican restaurant without a doubt.
Bottom line...if you want great Mexican food, you are doing yourself a disservice if you don't try...
